This photo portfolio comes from Charles King. His genre here includes modern AFV's and construction equipment. Enjoy!
I have always been interested in hi-tech machinery and that is why I do a lot of modern equipment. I have been modeling since 2002 until now. This is a collection of my modern armor models which I have tried to replicate as accurately as possible. I tend to do things that are seldom seen and/or not produced in kit form. This way I am the only one that has a that particular type of model. Not in all cases, but amoung the very few people that builds one-of-kind models. It makes modelling more interesting. In most cases I have built models that have come out in kit form long after I have finished building them. Sometimes I curse myself as to why I did not wait just a little longer...Ha Ha.
All models are either scratchbuilt, kitbashed/scratchbuilt or very heavily modified. Nothing was ever bought 'as is'. Since I scratchbuilt a lot I do not tend to have many models. I do not mind. I like to concentrate on one model at a time that way time seem to fly by quickly.

Thank you Alan. I just hope my level of detailing has not degraded after not building for over a year & a half... The modeling jumps seem to be coming back...

You are a truly magnificent modeler Charles, and a great inspiration to all here. I always enjoyed your “work in progress” blogs and so looking forward to your next. If I had to choose which model I liked the most, “real hard to”, I have to say the front loader. Thank you for all the great years and inspiration!
Happy Modeling,
Joe S.

Joe, right back at you buddy. It seems the front loader is the most popular...I wonder why ha ha. Thanks again for your kind words of inspiration. Don't forget, you push me to be better and will always be inspired by your fantastic scratch build skills, which I must say is second to none. Thanks Joe.

Curious to know since you will be doing trucks, are there any particular brand you have chosen? American or European?
SEP 17, 2009 - 05:26 PM
European all the the way. I really like the Scania brand of trucks. They seem to be my favorite. Ican't wait to start building.
