Capture

Very nice Pete. I like the crowded dio and chaos of the scene. One could argue that a dio should tell a story and the storyline should be clear, but in my mind a dio can also capture a moment in time, showing a sequence where some Germans have been taken prisoner and the US troops moving forward. Im wondering how this dio would look if photographed in natural light. It appears to have a yellow hue, taken under strong lighting. I take photographs in RAW format, and this allows you to change the light conditions to a colder/blue light and looks much better IMO.

I remember having a go at that Verlinden street section base for my first diorama years ago. It hasn't survived but I remember it fondly. You certainly did a better job on it than me anyway! All the little things going on really brings the scene to life. There isn't a corner without something of interest. Really nice work.

I don't know what's that medic is smoking, but it's bigger around than his thumb for sure.. I like the composition overall, it's a little busy, but I'm ok with that. I do really like how your trailer load is secured. I don't have a lot of allied stowage pictures, but it makes sense to me.

Very well put together scene. I almost wish the halftrack and jeep were in reverse positions so you could see the "captured" prisoners easier. Nice job on it

While it is a bit busy, I like the number of guys "just standing around." It is very realistic. Actually the the two soldiers kneeling with the radio backpack seem out of place -- too focused in a group that is pretty much laid back. Overall, though, nice work.

Thanks guys for all the comments. WWII is not my best subject, I'm more of the modern US modeling type. I appologize for all the inaccuricies in the dio, but I'm learning more and more from you guys around here. As for my picture taking, i know I suck at it! HAHA Still learning all the fundementals, plus I don't have my own space to take pictures. I have to share my space with my wife and with four boys coming in and out turning on and off the lights, it's hard to take good pictures.

Pete I think the layout of the diorama is great. It is a very busy scene. But every where you look there is something going on that have to deal with the situation. Outstanding diorama. Keep up the great work. Tom
