Austin 10hp Light Utility

Military Vehicle Open Day, Imperial War Museum, Duxford 6th June 2010
The Austin Light Utility was based on a civilian car of the immediate pre war period, but had a boxy pick-up type body with a canvas tilt cover. Some changes were made for military use such as a simpler mesh radiator grill and the fitting of military tyres but in practice the ordinary front wheels were often retained, which avoided very heavy steering. (Referenced from British Military Transport by David Jane). My thanks to the owner for allowing me so many detailed shots and for the friendly reception and interesting conversation.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks and you're welcome. There are a series of walkabouts that have been released and also coming along form Darren Baker and myself which hopefully people will enjoy and find useful. There were about 50 uploaded last time I counted so lots of good things to come. With the release of the Tilly this one was very handy to find when visiting Duxford. Al
