Hi,
I'd be happy to scratch build this one in 1:72 if I only knew more about British WWII motorcycles. I've got questions that no one answered yet.
1. Is BSA a general name for different makes - like Triumph and Norton, or maybe it was an individual make? I've got 1:9 Triumph and wonder if I can rely on BSA reference during the build.
2. Was there any sidecar equipped Triumph 3WH operating in WWII theaters?
Thanks for any help,
Regards,
Pete

Hi Peter,
BSA - British Small Arms Company was a separate organisation. They were based in Birmingham and made weapons but during the war also produced other militray equipment.
Norton and Tripmph were separate companies.
I think I've seen a picture of a Triumph with a side car, I'll have a look but I am pretty sure they were made!!? (famous last words).

Thanks Al,
I did some research and all I found was two snapshots from "Eden" movie: Maybe you could tell if this one was really operating or is it only filmmakers' imagination?

Pete

Hi Peter,
Not sure about the make of bike but here''s one from 1941. There were a lot of side cars used, I've seen clips of them else where especially in 1940/1941, as it was all they had.
If I can remember where the lnk to the clips are I'll post it up.

Cheers Al!
Seems the side car shape won't be difficult to scratch build in 1:9. Hope you find that link - I would like to see more pics. Maybe you could find some other reference? The best would be restoration pictures, so I could see sidecar details like frame and interior. I'm asking because I'd like my Triumph to be different from others (just like my Lend-Lease Harley WLA)
OT over,
Pete

My thoughts exactly
Looking forward to more of your motorcycle walkarounds.

You may want to check out Wikipedia's article on BSA. I'm not sure about some of the minor factual information, but the article seems to be overall correct.

Hi Peter,
Look on Pathe News pre Dunkirk, there was a whole Battalion of them, on manouvers, but I haven't time to go looking at the moment, sorry didn't keep the link.
