Building a DML Stug IIIB

Finishing

The vehicle is finished as a unit in the Balkans. They have lots of stores on board for the long journey. The kit was brush painted. I used PollyScale pz grey for the base color. PollyScale dirt and mud were used to cover the lower hull. I also used some earth-tone oils on the hull. I also put some white glue on the hull and then applied a little fine sand in various areas. This was over-painted with chalk pastels. I washed the upper hull with oils (raw umber) and then painted the equipment. The OVE was painted with acrylics, and metal areas got some pencil lead treatment too. The vehicle was heavily dusted with pastel chalks. I applied a little water in places, let it dry, then added more chalk. This was meant to simulate old and new dust. The base is an old picture frame with a dirt mix of dirt (from the garden), white glue, kitty litter, rocks, sand. The model is embedded in that pretty securely. A lot of pastel chalks were used to color the ground, and the vehicle to blend it all together.

I finished the kit some time ago. It was a very nice build, and the only thing I know I forgot to do was blank off the opening for the old style sight.

What a job! It´s an impressive very well done job! I liked the system he used to link up the individual track links. Very good!

Thanks guys! For some reason, those Stugs really appeal to me. The low slung profile and all those angles I guess!! Cheers Andy
