Vinnie Thanks for accepting these pics as a Models on Display. My appreciation. The kit is Dragon's T-34/76 Model 1941 built oob, but modified to show blast/shrapnel damage. This model is for the Russian Big and Beefy Campaign currently running on site. The rear deck and hull areas were modified to show shrapnel penetration by heating a small screwdriver and poking it through the plastic. The scorched armor is a blend of rust and black paints, with a bit of powdered baking soda added around the penetration holes. The kit supplied pe screen was torn to show the effects of an engine fire/damage. This is an attempt to replicate damage on an actual T-34 pic pic I saw out on the Net. The damaged side of the T-34 attempts to replicate a blast that has taken out the T-34's fender, a couple of bogies, and the tracks. This is also modeled after an actual damaged T-34 pic. On the other side of the tank, a kit supplied storage box was posed open with a piece of Kleenex dipped in glue and painted to simulate an old tarp of some sort. The base is 1" pink construction styrofoam shaped with a hand tool and finished with model railroad scenic materials. I've included one picture here also to show the name of the dio, "For the Mother Land" as this tank and its crew have paid the ultimate price in defense of their homeland. My appreciation to all for looking. Steve

Hi Steve The T-34 looks very good! Appart from the battle damage (very subtle ,but convincing), I like the hues you have made on the Russian Green and also the ground work. If you allow a humble suggestion, try to put some human factor in it (like for instance: a helmet) I can only say: Congratulations! Thanks for sharing it Vinnie! Skipper

It looks beautiful Steve. After I read Shep Painie's book on How to Build Diorama's over 20 years ago I came up with the idea of building a diorama depicting the German army's discovery of the T-34 and planned on having a knocked out T-34 being examined by some soldiers with a general and an early Panzer III. When I get aound to actually building it I will definately use your T-34 as basis for mine. That is just the look I was thinking of. Again, great job.
