Hello,
Here are several photos of the old Tamiya kit of the british Daimler Scout Car I'm currently making. I updated it without PE parts. Only some scratch for representing the radio set and some improvements on both internal and external of the vehicle:
Radio set made with resin and plastic parts
Then, some equipments added inside like helmet and bags
I tried to represent the system of the canvas which protect the interior of the vehicle:
Then, vehicle started to have its definitive form:
View of the interior of the front panel where I added some electrical wire to represent the system for opening the windows
I made the external seat used for observation:
then, some improvements of the exterior of the Daimler:
Light grey acrylic from Tamiya put with airbrush:
Then, Tamiya XF61 on all the vehicle:
Tamiya put the name of the tyre manufacturer but there is a type error:
DONLOP iso DUNLOP...
I made some camo with 'kleenex' and medical equipment mixed in wood cement + water:
Then, I replaced the 2 gallons tanks by resin tanks made by Ultracast. They are very beautiful and very realistics:
Some modification on the exhaust pipe by cutting it and replacing by electrical plastic cable.
Daimler Scout Car is finished. I just have to put some equipment on the rear top deck :
I want to put it on a small dio with an Ultracast figurine and a road pannel made by MK35 showing the distance to reach Saint Pierre Sur Dives where the Desert Rats were based:
Here the end of my post. Many thanks for your inputs!
Regards
Philippe

Very nice Phillipe.
How did you apply the filler so neatly on the sides?

I am going to assume that this to avoid a copyright infrigement? Sort of like how Dragon puts Continentau instead of Continental on their Tiger kits.
Nice job on your kit. I have always wanted to build this thing. It looks like such an easy build.

Talk about making a silk purse our of a sow's ear. That kit has got to be one of the most toy like kits Tamiya ever came out with. You've done a great job making a very presentable kit out of it.

Many thanks for your comments!
For Murdo, I used a piece of paper hankerchief put in a mix of glue for wood and water. I put the filler on the side, then put the mix glue/water with a dedicated brush. I work on the filer to give it the right position. Then, I leave it until it was completely dry. (approx 24 hrs). After, I was able to put the acrylic.
I like building this kit: very small with a large window for improvement.
Thank Rockfall for the comment on the copyright. I think it's quite easy to remove the top of the O to convert it into a U. Unfortunately I saw that after painting and was afraid to do this little chirurgical task! Hope it will help other modellers!
Best regards from Normandy!

Hi there
I like the radio shelves in the back of the Dingo. I am currently building one also, Race you!!
I am too scared to attempt the netting on mine though! Why did't you use all of the PE parts? I was quite impressed with some of the fine detail it had, such as the side storage latches and the No. 19 radio?
Can't wait to see it finished.

looks great, I've just bought one of these old dogs with the intention of breathing a new lease of life into it.
This thread is very interesting and has a few pointers that i'll take into account when I get around to doing mine.
Look forward to seeing it completed on it's base.
Cheers,
James

Phil76, your Dingo is amazing! I noticed though that you still need to work on a feature on it! Your Dingo needs a pair of rear refletors (red), which are the round pieces of plastic at the back!
Very good work!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Hello,
I started to make the small diorama for the Daimler Scout Car.
I used polystyrene and put some black abrasive paper for making the road. I used some natural woods and little green parsley. I also used
synthetic grass used for railways dioramas.
Then, the road was treated with acrylic and MIG pigments to give it an
old aspect. I put the Ultracast figures on the dio.
The road pannel is in resin from french manufacturer MK35.
Many thanks in advance for your comments,
Regards

This looks great. A small but very effective diorama with lots of detail to catch the eye and clear story.

Hi,
The Daimler Scout Car is finished:
Here the photos of the small dio on which I added a tittle. In fact the guy forgot to refuel and the vehicle stopped due to no more oil in the tank. Then, the quarter chief was obliged to use his back-up jerrycan to refuel and reach Saint Pierre sur Dives where the Desert Rats stopped... A small story in the History. This is my little contribution to the major rules played by British troops in my country:
