First attempt? What did you do before you started on tanks??
Good job Andy. Nice, realistic mud. If I would have to make a comment, it would be that the rest of the tank looks a bit clean, compared with the front and rear corners. I like the finish of the paintjob, the texture seems just about right.
Looking forward to your SECOND attempt..
Cheers

Andy,
I too am curious, what did you do before this first attempt?
I like the turret star. Is it a decal? transfer? painted? Nice weathering. I've got one of these in my stash and this has got me eyeballing it. Solid work.
Cheers
Dave

This is the first time ive tried weathering, i built three models about four years ago ,an apache ah-64 ,a harrier gr-8 i think and another fighter plane all just built and painted from instructions. I got this sherman oct 06 and with internet access discovered a whole world of modelling stuff .So this is first tank / figures and dio ,,,,should be fun

Certaintly looks better than mine! Very well done.
It could just be me, but the decal on the side (Houston Kid II) looks like you can see the film around it. On your next one, this could be helped by airbrushing Future floor polish onto the model before applying the decals. After applying them, add a second coat, then your flat coats.
Can't wait to see your second tank. Oh, and your dio!

Andy,
Very nice! Well done. One comment, you might want to depict some sort of tie-down for the gear on the engine deck...

Nice weathering job. Excellent first armour kit(of course cause it is a Sherman ). For secureing the storage I use a synthetic thread, soak in white glue first and then run it between two fingers to remove excess. Let dry. This really helps reduce the frizzies. I picked up a pack of thread with about 4-6 different "earth" colours so I can vary the "rope" colour. If it is not tied down it will not be there a kilometer down the road/ field.
Again nice job.
Doug

Gday ANDY
This looks beaut mate
Shermans are my favourite AFVs, but I am yet to do a 105 howitzer...
You have made her into a well used machine!
Hard to tell, but the spare track links in the rear holders should be black rubber colour?
The tiedown rope really looks the part; good scale. An option would be to stand up the jerrycan (closest the turret) against the wood crates to make the stowage pile more compact, and maybe add a tarp packed in on the boxes?
What are the diorama plans?
Great work
Brad
