I have just purchased the trumpeter kv1 heavy Cast Turret,i am planning a small dio and have a few questions im hoping people here might know.
1-What period of the war would this model have been used from and to?
2-What would have been the base colour of the tank on production?
3-Would external fuel cylinder have been fitted and also stowage?
4-The front right hatch above the mounted machinegun, would this be the drivers hatch?
sorry for so many questions but i am more of a figure man,i just loved the look of this tank and decided to build it.

To answer the only one I can at this moment, there are relatively few photos of Soviet tanks carrying external stowage. The norm seems to be a bare tank.

Hi Steve,
if you refer on 00359, it could be placed from early '42 through '43. Maybe some even later, but they would not have been a typical sight.
Base color definitly russian green, field applied white distemper or brown blotches possible.
Fuel tanks could be seen quite often, maybe a tarp (often fixed on the left fender) or a log here and there, but not as busy as later tanks.
KV-1 crews didn't have a lot of hatches, so bailing out in case of emergency would have been disastrous... The upper-front hull hatch is located above the radio-operaters head, the driver was located more to the middle.
