So far, not a bad kit, dispite the poor ratings in reviews.
Out of the box, and fit has been great so far.

Dave,
I find it very good looking indeed and if I were you, I would disregard any poor ratings and such...
Congratulations from another old man,

That looks quite good!
How did you remove the mold seam on the gun barrel, or was there one?
Did you scratchbuild the cobblestone street?
Keep up the good work!

Very nice indeed. I have got to get one of those for my commute to work . Is it going in a dio? Or is it a stand alone?
Cheers

I used my handy dandy flexifile.
Quoted Text
Did you scratch-build the cobblestone street?
Nope, just Tamyia's embossed sheet glued to the base.
Quoted Text

Nothing fancy, just on a base.

Yep, actually it's the Hobby-craft re-boxing of the Trumpeter kit.

Man, I could sure go for a Beer..
Have a few, as for me, I don't drink.
I just found out that this kit suffers from the dreaded plastic eating tires. Hopefully I'll get it photographed, before that happens.

Good clean work on interesting subject. This doesent get built too often, your jeep is the first i see
in the forums, and the kit is few years old
Just paint them in black acrylic paint (especially where they meet the rim) and they should be ok.
Cheers

I built the Trumpeter one when it first came out around 2002. I don't recall the kit getting any bad reviews and thought it built up quite well. Not as good as the Skybow M38 Jeep series kits, but better than the Tamiya M151A2 Jeep series.
Yours is coming around just nicely, keep us updated.

Thanks, actually this is one of the few kits I have used acrylics on, primed with Tamyia flat black, and used Tamyia dark green. I'll paint the tires, especially the contact areas with acrylics.

I'm surprised that more folks haven't tried this kit. Went together with no need for extensive filler or sanding. So far a real shake and bake, drop fit for most parts.

it's a well made kit..lots of dettails..from the tiniest parts of the engine and suspension details to the recoiless rifle. one thing though..somehow when the rubber tyres and plastic rim touches..this is the result...
i kept the kit for future use..waiting for replacement tires and upgradings or for wreck scene diorama. hope this helps. cheers. ed

I'm curious how that plastic does that? The wheels seem to be in ok condition, so why is the plastic look like its been lit on fire?

it the reaction of the plastic with the "rubber" tire - a chemical in the tire is acting as a solvent and disintegrating the plastic wheel. This happens on some kits especially older ones, I had an academy merkava II which had rubber rims and it melted the plastic before i can build it.
:(
ED, was the wheel painted at the point where it touches the tire? I was hoping that the paint would be able to act as a barrier and prevent this sort of thing from happening.

hi dave and everyone..hi sonny, it didn't help when i painted the contact area of the rubber tyres and rim. but i did something interesting with my merkava..i coated the contact area with superglue! and it stopped the chemical reaction on the wheels. it will help alot if kits are regularly check on their boxes and displayshelves. trumpeter's chinese jeeps and trucks have super detail undercarriage..i'll just wait for a spare set to upgrade them. have fun building.

Charlie, I'm really starting to believe you really do have very grave psychiatric problems. I certainly hope you find the help you need. As for now you are on ignore. I'm going to leave your little sarcastic and childish remark for all to see.

This is a nice little beastie. I should give it a try but the wheels "end state" is quite "discouraging".
Could you give us some feedback about the CA solution after awhile ?
Maybe this could help with the Dragon BTRs and BRDMs kits.
