Hello all,
I haven't posted any WIP photos on armorama in ages, but since Soviet armor gets more attention here than at other sites I figured I'd upload a few shots of my Trumpeter KV-1.
This paint job was a very simple affair and took under 2 hours to complete.
It still needs a pin-wash and the undercarriage needs to be painted.
Speaking of which, I'm assuming this version has steel wheels, should the contact surface between wheel and track be painted silver (i.e., do I need a silver stripe running down the middle of the track interior?)?
Thanks for looking

Nice build you have their.
Clean build
Looks like a much better model then the old Tamiya one.
As for stripe down the middle well I would if it were me use a more of a graphite color.
to me a bright steel is strong in this scale.
Now it might of been that way in real life but I do find anything bright silver or gold strong colors.
Anyway would turn to rust overnight.
I also do a little digging myself out in the River.

Yup, for the contact areas I would use some graphite colour-like. Humbroll metal cote is ideal for this. (#27004)
I really like the paintjob sofar and some pinwashes would really add some more depth to the model. So keep us updated!

thanks for the help guys
The model is finished, and I have submitted a step by step article on how it was done to armorama, so more pictures will be forthcoming.
Here is a peak

Nice build .
Like the tracks a bunch great job on them.
Sweet
So what is the reason they did not white wash the whole thing.

Thanks Jeff
The tracks were really simple. Polly Scale's NATO Tricolor brown washed with some raw umber, follewed by a good rubbing of pencil graphite.
No idea why the whole thing wasn't whitewashed. An attempt at a disruptive scheme maybe? Ran out of paint? Regardless, I like this look

Good job on this one, Ralph. I think I will try your track painting method on my Sturm Tiger for the Heart of Gold campaign.
It is a interesting camouflage scheme, but welll documented. Maybe they just didn't want to repaint the turret numbers

I am working on that same kit. I was going to do a similar paint scheme on it as well.
Which set of tracks did you use? So far its has been a nice build, but there is some filling I need to do on the upper hull. I'm going to keep with ym original paint, but will mix it up a little.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everybody.
Jim, the tracks are the link-and-length set provided in the kit. They're a synch to work with and look good when done.
