Hello and thanks for looking. The zim is Bondo automotive spot n glazing putty,it was spread on with a knife n textured with a small screw driver.I find the stuff is great ,it remains manageable for 10-15 and is solid in half an hour or so.

Bob
I'm sure, if you pm me, that I can find some images of Panther Ds in Normandy among my numerous Panther books (it was, after all IMHO, the best tank of WW2) that would help.
Regards
Rob

Great job on that one - the zimmerit looks great.
I do not really understand your Panther version. Is this a D or an A version? It has the A version cupolar, but the D turret pistol ports and the slid opening for the Hull LMG.
Here are possible profiles for you in three colour camouflage:
12th SS Pz Div. Panther D in Normandy
Lehr Pz. Div. Panther A in Normandy
However, none of these profiles fit your Panther exactly. One with the right copular, but wrong ball mounted LMG. The other a D version, but with both wrong copular and wrong ball mounted LMG.
Thanks for sharing - looking forward to see more

The Ausf D could have had a new cupola fitted during a refit.

Sure, I agree about the copular. You can mix and match Panther parts very freely in my opinion as long as you do not mix in changes from after the scene you are depicting.
A Panther could easily have looked as the one above in Normandy. However, since it seems to be a mix it is difficult to find a profile that fits exactly.

I agree with the previous posts. The zim job is fantastic. As with all late war German Armor, do what you want concerning equipment and paint, and somebody will come up with a photo to vindicate you.

Jesper, this is an early A Panther, from August through December '43 the Panther A was still built with the pistol ports on the turret and the letter flap for the hull MG. The general rule is if it had the cast cupola as opposed to the original drum cupola it was an "A" model. There may be a very few instances where they replaced the drum cupola on a "D" with the cast one, but they are very few. I can only recall seeing maybe one pic of this.

Bob, I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly but if I do then the colorplates Jesper posted links to would be a good starting point for the camo scheme. The tanks that took part in the Normandy campaign would have had the camo painted on them in the field. There was no set pattern, like later in the war when many tanks were being painted at the factories. What I mean by this is you can use the color plates as a guide but your camo does not have to match them exactly. Though they may have used the same colors, and they may have looked similiar, each tank had a different scheme. Base coat dark yellow, with the brown and green sprayed over it in a mottled pattern. Oh, and very nice job so far!
Best,
Mike
