Here is the panzer 1 a interior that I have been working on. The kit from Tristar has been used. I found the resin casting to be of top quality but they did leave out a fair amount of detail (for me anyway but I am a detail freak). I have scratchbuilt all of the necessary additions using spare PE fret, resin, wire and plastic card. The drivers visors and vision ports are from Aber's panzer 1 update. All of the vision ports and flap are workable, of course. References were the Panzer Tracks book 1-1 and the Militaria in Detail book.
To begin, we have the radio rack that I built from copper wire and PE fret. This radio rack is necessary, as you see and from my reference is quite accurate. The copper wire supports the radio in the rack.

Here is the MG 13. I have added some latches and clasps from PE and copper wire.
Next, we have the lower part of the turret. Only the two large resin parts are from the kit, the rest has been added by me. The small additions are turret locking mechanisms which were made from resin, PE bolts and plastic rivets.

Here we see more detail of the turret locking mechanisms and the detail on the top of the turret traversing mechanism.

Here is a picture of the turret locking switch and a larger part (I am not sure of it's purpose )

Here are the two turret vision ports. The headrests were made from plastic card and bent with a candle and much care.
:-)

The next two photos are of the boxes on the side of the superstructure, some needed to be scratchbuilt because they were not included.

This is the spare MG barrel holder, I added some PE handle to the clasps, the kit parts were solid and unrealistic.

Here is an outside view of the vision port with the plastic piece not yet attached to the front.

Rebuilt antenna mount, the kit one was BAD.

This picture shows the back vision pot and flap as well as the back wall. This wall did not go all the was accross as it should have so I added plastic card to make it accuraate. The debris is just putty dust, sorry

Here are the drivers vision ports and the vision flap handle. I am particularly proud of this hande, it was scratchbuilt from PE. The white plastic "Blob" is the headcushion.

I am getting tired or writting, here are a few more pics:

Hope you like,

Andrew

I have been working on it for about 8 days now with about 1.5 hrs per day, give or take.
It has been a project that I really enjoy so the hours just fly by :-)

I'm also curious about the quality of your eyes...did you get a transplant from a hawk or something? Phenominal and so intricate. Did you see those pics from that guy in England who is superdetaining the Tiger one. God help us if the two of you get together

That's a lot of detail for such a small tank!
It's going to be one impressive interior......will we be able to see it when the model's complete?

Everybody to their own. I dont think Id have the patience for all this detail, but i do admire what you have done. Im fascinated every time I see the amount of superdetailing some of you guys manage to pull off. Well done Oberst. Lovely work.

You are a sick, sick, individual. I LOVE YOU. And I don't mean that in a Ferris Bueller way. I thought I was losing my mind trying to build a Freakin Hand mike for My M966 kit. I salute you. Do you use any kind of magnifiers, or wicked super secret micro tools, like the guys in the funny white suits use to build microchips?...I am being serious, I am convinced that with the proper tools and motivation I could waste my young life away indoors doing the same thing...when I should be scamming chicks......I am gonna cry now.

Well thanks you, I am very flattered. I should be scamming chicks as well, I am only 18. That is why I rarely work on models on the weekend...
As for special tools, all I have is a trusty exacto-blade, tweezers and skill baby!!!!
My eyesight is actually aweful for long distances, I wear strong contacts but for close up, it is quite good, as you see.
Thanks again,

Andrew

That's crazy bud. I don't know how you guys have the patience and skill to superdetail and scratchbuild. I barely have enough patience to use the kit parts required to complete a model!

Well done Obe!
