I agree!! looks like a great "canvas" to get going with weathering effects! What do you thin your acrylics with?

Nice progress so far. I can't tell from the photos, so I'll ask, how much of the preshade actually shows through?
Is the BlueTac still useful after getting color added? I've been intrigued with the technique but never done it.

to be honest thats the first time i have used a pre-shade, but it was a waste of time as now you cannot tell. (I gave it a try anyway).
The blu-tac is still useful, but you have to very carefull on the small parts of the model as they can break easy, Thats why i just paint them with the last colour so that i don't hae to cover them up. I have just sprayed buff over the model to dull the colour down

Looks great so far! I just rode in one of this in Baltimore, Maryland a couple weeks ago. They evidently do 'Duck Tours'...
Yours looks very nice. The cammo came out very well!

I have done some more work on the DUKW.
I have gave it a wash and a dry brush added some of the equipment. Made a few school boy errors on the way.
All I can say ,if you build this DUKW. Leave all the hooks ringlets to last as i have had to replace virtualy all of them with home made ones as i kept snapping them off. and have snapped the side mirror off, but i think i can still use them.
next is the weathering stage.

Advice needed.
I have used mig beech sand on the model put i am not too sure of the weathering. I was thinking of using Buff in my air brush to cover it over to make it look dusty.
can i over spray the mig weathering with buff or does it look ok as it is??

I think the weathering looks fine as it is. I have sprayed over pastel dust, you can do it, it does seal and soften the pastels. If you spray to much and to hard you spray the dust off with the air pressure and then you turn the dusty stuff into a wash by adding liquid.
Are you planning on dusting/weathering the howitzer?

Ditto what Scott said. Looks good as is. Howitzer does need weathering.

Nice job Gary
But i have some notes: the kit comes without any mountings for the anchor and the instruction states the wrong location. Here you can see the right position and the mountings:
DUKW stern deck
The kit's supports for the surf board are too short. Using them results in a too steep positioned surf board. Here are two pics from the real thing:
happy modeling

I changed my mind on the weathering of the DUKW
i opted for the air brush over the mig pigments, Tamiya buff
