Hi all,
I've been on a roll lately getting some projects done.
This is the ICM Flammpanzer II. I remember reading some reviews by others who said it slid together like a charm.....not for me! Detail is great, but I found fit left a lot to be desired. No locating pins for the torsion bars, either, so you have to guess how high off the ground the whole thing should sit. The wheels didn't fit well on the axles, only some of the indy links snapped together, etc. This was a shelf queen for me that I started in early 2005 (?), maybe even in 04. Then it sat on my shelf, and about 6 months ago I said I have to finish some half finished things. So here it is.
It's built OOTB, except for the antenna, flag, and spare helmet on back of turret. This was the first time I tried to glue everything (tracks, tools, etc.) on before any painting. The only parts I didn't glue on prior were the spare tracks and their "holder" on the back of the hull. Everything else was glued on, then painted. It was basecoated with Model Master Panzer grey, then I sprayed lightened Tamiya Panzer Grey. Future, decals, future, dark wash, flat coat, acrylic washes for dirt, etc. Flag is just printed off the net, re-sized a bit, wrinkled, and glued on with white glue. Still have to add some thread to hold it down, but can't find my spool right now.
Figures are the old Tamiya ones, just thrown in for some scale.
Groundwork is spackle and soil, with 2 colors of Woodland Scenics static grass. Oh, and the antenna is guitar string. Think that about covers it. It's a bit dustier looking in real life than the pics.....I still struggle with the pics. Though a pain, it was a nice break from some Shermans. Comments, etc., welcome. That's why it's here.

Well I know your pain with this kit... I started it building like three weeks ago and found out there were some real issues with it. After a struggle to get the plate with the drivers visors lining up with the upperstructure I left it where it is. Actually the torsionbars I liked quite much since it allows you to attach them in such a way that you can show it on uneven ground.
You made quite a good vehicle out of it in the end and most of the issues I encountered on this kit do not show up in your built. If min comes out only half that good then I'm a happy man.

Robert,
I had that same gap behind the glacis....I just filled in with plastic strip and then putty and sanded it........it's there if you look for it, though it doesn't seem to show in the photos. Why was that part beveled like that?!
I agree about the wheels, it does give you options, but I'd like at least an idea of where they would be on flat ground. The way this is, I could've jacked it way up like a monster truck!
Thanks for the kind words.
