G’day all,
This is a WIP (still a bit to go) of my mate’s ASLAV 25 Phase III from SECDET VI B in 2005.
The base kit is Trumpeter with the “TBA” resin conversion kit. All of the resin was cast from my originals except the spare tyre rack that was from “Mouse House”.
It will end up with a couple of other parts from Mouse House and a set of tyres from Maple Leaf. And maybe a little bit of photo etch from Voyager.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers Jason Miller

I'll be honest... you hobbiest that can take a basic kit and add on resin parts, parts from other kits, conversion kits, metal, etc. simply boggle my brain. I mean that as a compliment... pictures like this and others leave me shaking my head in amazement. They look so neat before the base coat goes on.
How much does it cost to take a basic kit and improve it like you have done?
How much time does it take to finish the assembly phase?
How much research does it take to get all of the right parts, or kits?

HI
Very nice work so far, cannot wait to see this one finished.
By TBA resin conv do you mean that hopefully one day soon we will be seeing an actual conv set?
Cheers

G'day Tom,
Thanks for the comments. TBA means that a company has picked this one up but as for the realise date, that wont be to far away.
G’day S.B.
To answer a few questions for you.
I have used 4 of the Trumpeter kits and one from Italeri so far to make the master for this conversion and a S**T load of plastic strip and rod.
It has taken 2 years to gather the reference (somewhere in the count of 250+ photos) about 12 hours climbing over the ASLAV and 5 big arguments with the wife.
Once I had cast off the original parts I have spent about 20 hours on the ASLAV so far. Mostly removing and cutting parts from the base kit.
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers Jason

Not too shabby, when can we expect to see the car when it is completed?

Hi all... my first post!! Great site!!
I am currently working on two of the same thing but with full interiors.
What happend to this WIP? Im drooling.... And will this ever be (or has it already been) released??
Also... I noticed that on this WIP the forward hull lifting point is positioned in the wrong spot. On the ASLAV its moved further to the front and higher in the corner than on LAV-25. Pretty important for this build as its also a bar armour mounting point.

G'day Ray,
Welcome to the site.
It will be released some time soon. I’m having a problem casting the Bar Armour and I don’t want to go into PE. There won’t be any Bar for the hull as yet only the turret.
You are right about the lifting point in one aspect. I rechecked my measurements and the lower part of the lifting eye is 2mm to far forward.
I may even give up on the Iraq cars with Bar Armour at the moment and go ahead with the Phase III Aust/Afghan instead.
Cheers Jason

2mm too far forward? I though it needed to be moved more forward... We are talking about the hull lifting point on the upper part of the front hull rear of the light cluster yeah? If that make sense. Ive got a pic but not sure how to upload??... (computer retard)
I cant wait for this mate. Hopefully it will be released by the time my interior is done and i am ready for the exterior. That will make my life a heap easier. I have no idea about casting resin so all my work is scratched from plastic.
Im doing my bar armour using styrene rod and sheet. Very frustrating work indeed but i think it will be worth it. It better be......
Cheers

Yep it official Ray, I am an idiot.
You are right. Sorry. After rechecking the measurements WITH the photos this time, I’m out by a mile.
Email me a couple of photos of your work. I would be very interested in having a look at the interior. Its bad enough doing the Aussie M113, let alone the inside of an ASLAV. Have a look in my profile photos of my work bench. There are a couple of pic's fo the bar armour in it early stages.
So I take it you are doing the full set of Bar? How are you doing the rear section on the Hull?
There still is a ways to go with this one. But as I said last night I now think I will go with the normal Phase III for the time being. This has been on the boil now for some time and needs to be done. So watch this space.
Cheers Jason
PS Aussie M1 bits will be out soon as well.

No worries mate.
Ill post up some pics of mine once i work out how and its at a stage where it doesnt look like a complete mess. Which may take some time...
As for the bar armour, im concentrating on the interior at the moment and will worry about it once i join the two hull halfs together. Ive only completed one piece just to make sure it can be done, but ive drawn up the blueprints and as long as I do it in sections it shouldnt take that long. I think it will be the mounting points that will be the difficult part.
Ive also got a Phase 3 Type 2 in the pipeline, i picked up an AFV Club Remote Weapon Station for it last week. I think i may leave the interior and bar armour off that one though.
Cheers mate
