Nice build so far. Don't forget to get the right radio set and not the one coming with the kit.

Folks, what is your opinions on the Tamiya kit?
Is is good? Is it accurate?
I'm asking you this, since I am basically a WWII modeller, and right now I am considering to start building some modern models as a "break time" from WWII.
My idea is to build the Argentinian Army Humvee, like the one that the IMARA Corps (our local army equivalent to the US Marine Corps) and the Argentinian Army are nowadays using. Some photos of the version:

Will appreciate your feedback.
Cheers

Go with it straight from the box. Of course you could add some improvements like the TOW launcher wiring and probably Argentinian radio sets but it's up to you. The fit is perfect, the details pretty good, the tires are of the early type.
You can see mine somewhere here

No problems with the kit at all.

I do have the Resin tires but I do not like them.

I would suggest the set from Mig which I think are better.

As to wiring not bad deal EPI posted his setup I have it but I had already glued the thing shut dust and all.

Thought most was outside.

My Bad.

Well Go for it is a nice kit.

And yes good to do other things beside WW2.

Tigers Panthers Panzer III's T-34's do get old after so many years.

Think will do the other one also some time down the Road.

I will have this done by weekend well everything except Mirrors which are coming.

That is a nice one you have Olivier

Well Finished except for mirrors.

I have learned a few things on this one next will be better.

So let me have it as I need to learn these wheeled things.

Speaking of Which cover of FSM has an armored Humvee on it .

And do the wheels really bow out like that?

No I did not sand the Injector pins off the inside of the Doors.

Who can really see them, will next time.

The Humvees don't Have Stainless Steel exhaust do they?

She turned out great Jeff. That has to be one of my favorite Tamiya kits and you have done her proud. Good to see a clean build every now and again. The colour looks bang on too. Have you thought of entering the OIF campaign?

Looks great!

Did you use an aftermarket antenna, or did you build it yourself?

Keep up the good work.

Hi Jeff

this model was discussed on missing lynx modern forum and it seems a TOW mounted version of that humvee was not part of the unit it depicts during the invasion in 2003

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47209/thread/1160760168/

so tamiya and dragon made a mistake

Well now can't help that.

Maybe somebody missed a picture. LOL

Silverleaf Antenna is a piece of Carbon Fiber rod bought from Hobby land and the little Bob is end dipped in white glue hung upside down and allowed to dry painted Green.

Thanks Trahe kind of like them myself
