I bought this when it first came out but haven't done a whole lot on it since I have been focusing on the new marriage, new house and new sons. I finally decided to spend some time on me for a weekend and decided to put some time on this. Three days yielded nearly 500 parts worth of work. Hopefully these pics will work.

It was extremely tedious, I am quite glad it is done with the truck suspensions. Most of the parts of the kit were for that.

Also I am working on some poplar planks for the upper surface of the gun platform to replace the kit parts. They just don't seem very realistic to me.

Ditto for me. I've put together the track bed, now to add some vegetation, etc.

I have the Dragon one and I was really disappointed about the details of the railcars. Compared to the ones in the Trumpeter kit they looked like a piece of abstract art . It needed scratching and PE.

Have fun with your build

I debated the extra $40 for the Trumpeter kit over the Dragon one, but after reading the reviews, I went with this one. All in all, I would say it was $40 very well spent. I have run into few issues. My only complaint is that the wood planks are not very well detailed and that some thin parts can be so thin they are hard for my hamfists not to break. I will post a few more pics when I get home.

Great work Rob, I can probably guess just how repetitive it was building those trucks, this kit is on my "to get " list rather than my "to do" but I'll still be checking back on yours for tips and encouragement.

I finished all the rear initial assembly on the rear truck, there is a superstructure that will need to be built later. I also have most of the work done on the front truck. This was the first full dry fit to give you some idea how big this thing is. I think I am going to need a shelf just for it.

A little overexposed, but my camera took a crap so I don't have any more tonight:

500 parts in 3 days!! i started going crosseyed just trying to get the railings of the sprues!

No doubt that working on this beast at the kitchen table cuts down on the time spent between the workbench and food.

One of these days I'll get started on my Trumpeter kit.

Hi there...

I'm just kind of curious , to know if you were aware of some of the issues of this particular kit .

Those issues were discussed at the missing links forum sometime ago.
About the main gun assembly, apparently , lowering & elevating it , showed that the metal shat fitting in part C29, was too long ....
Therefore , the gun assembly , was off center...

I'm in the process of building this kit , myself, with parts of the Eduard PE set.
which i find , does not improve accuracy....

I, also would like to bring to your attention that part K23 , seems inacurate...
Although, i do not possess any close-up photographs to correct the inacuracy.

Just my two cents

Best of luck

Marc
