This is my NZLAV III - conversion from trumpeter kit. It is quite different fom the Canadian LAV. I have made it as accurate as possible. I decided on quite light weathering. It was my battery command vehicle (C/S G19) This is the first time I have posted on armorama. All comments welcome.

regards

Ian,
Awesome stuff. I picked up the Trumpeter Stryker and when I saw how much it would take to turn it into a NZLAV , i built the thing straight out of the box.

Can you build one for me when you have a free couple of hours

Say gidday to Trev from me next time you talk to him

cheers

Great job. It looks really nice and proves that you do not need a lot of weathering to make an armor model stand out.

Cheers everyone, your comments are all appreciated. I'm now tempted to start work on a D20 howitzer!

Kevin,

Sure was a lot of work!! I had the same thought when I opened the trumpeter box but had to give a LAVIII a crack. As an artilleryman I never thought I'd be racing around as part of a LAV crew, so I couldn't resist. I may make another one out of the AFV club kit - but not for a little while due toi work!!

Trev is doing well in Aussie and enjoying the modelling scene there. I'll pass on your regards.

The scale model expo was great this year. looking forward to nthe next one. Is Auckland having a show this year?

Charles,

I owe a lot of credit to you - your build really inspired me and is fantastic. Cheers. I've found a new respect for Mr Evergreen!!

Jason,

Cheers, I'm looking forward to seeing your Leopard C2. We are proud of what you guys are doing in Afghanistan. We follow your employment of LAV with interest. You guys are doing a great job over there.

Jeff,

definitely Waiouru dirt - where I am currently posted!! Living the dream!!

Best regards to everyone.

Congratulations on a nicely built Australia LAV 3. Ti has built the Canadian Lav and you have done the Australia one. I think the Canadian version is slightly difficult to build, because of the engine bay.

Are these the only countries that have the turret version of the lav 3?

Hi there,

It is a New Zealand LAV III not Australia - they have the LAV 25. I think only Canada and NZ have the LAV III but also possibly Ireland. The NZ version engine grill assembly is closer to the striker than the Canadian one.

thanks for your comments.

Go the All Blacks!!

G'day Boss,

Are you planning on putting it on a base?

Looking forward to seeing your next project now.
