The ERA attached directly to the hull as the Revell kit has you do is for a EXPORT version only. East Germany, Syria, Iraq, Iran, anyone who got aT-72 with ERA ever COULD have this ERA arrangement. It is just not something I have ever seen on RUSSIAN equipment. There may have been specific Red Army standards that prevented this, or the arrangement may have come into vogue after the Russian were working on K-5 ERA.
Best bet...build it as a Syrian T-72 with a tan and light brown stripes cammo.

Jacques had it right there. DML's kit is an odd hybrid between T-72S ( export version) and T-72B, besides Kontakt elements are not correct themselves! If you wish to spend some money on AM try finding Model Point's Kontakt-1/3 sets. If not try doing some catchy paint scheme like Indian 'digie" camo or Islamic Revolutionary guards one.
