Hello,
I am more of a figure person and have not built any models since 1991. I started out way back when doing models but got into the figures and never went back. I have just decided to get back into models and have to say that I have really, really enjoyed it and I can't wait to start on my next one! Here are some pictures and any and all comment are welcomed. I sculpted all the tarps and rags from Aves and the truck was painted with Tamyia and Vallejo acrylics.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

I really like the faded look of the paint, can you share your method?

wbill76,
Thank you very much.
sgtsauer,
Thank you. I am really glad to be back. I am in St Charles and you?

Thank you very much. I base coated it in Tamyia German Grey and then added white to the mix and added cloud pattern. I then added some washes of Sepia oils. Once all was dry I used the Vallejo's Deck Tan and lighly dry brused it. It was almost a scrubbing action with very little paint on the brush. I then added some washes using dirty acrylic paint. I had some German Grey with a litthe deck tan and brushed it onto the top. I then went back with a little more deck tan. I hope this helps.
goldenpony,
Thanks. I bet yours will be just fine! Don't wait any longer get at it!!
orange_3D,
Thanks. I am planning on adding a few to go with it. I am thinking of a small dio and want to build a few other vehicles to go along with it.
slodder,

I'm in Jefferson City. I keep hoping to run into someone in my area. There are no hobby shops or clubs around me so it is pretty frustrating some times.

I'm not a huge fan of diorama type bases - But I'd like you to know that this one fits quite well with your truck. I feel this way because the base actually works along with your model than against it. Models should always be the dominant piece in a diorama rather than the dirt & grass. Yours works.
Looks like you didn't lose your modeling skills even after 16 years! Keep at it.

A great piece of work Joe. The sculpted pieces look really good. The damaged/torn rags are a great detail.
The groundwork looks great as well. What did you use for grass?

sgtsauer,
I just through there a few weeks ago to the lake. I have a friend who is into figures and starting armor that is in Higbe(sp?)
AJLaFleche,
Thanks very much.
Calahan,
Thank you very much for the kind words. I did not want to just put it on a bare base but at the same time just had a vision of it driving down a dirt/country road.
Hwa-Rang,
Thanks. I could not resit adding something, plus it was a good excuse to get the putty out and work on a figure.
The grass is a seaweed product from El Viejo Dragon.

Here is a link to it. Go to the bottom of the page. I just attached it with wood glue and the airbrushed it. I then gave it a few touches of Vallejo acrylic paints. It was not drybrushed but just a loaded brush the was dabbed here and there.

Hi Joe,
This looks excellent, welcome back and off to a grand start. The 2 new pics really bring ti to life. My only observation would be that the tyres look a little too clean in the new pics but that might be the light.
Look forward to seeing more of your work.
Cheers
Al

AlanL,
Thanks for the very nice words. I am not sure about the tires. They may be a bit to clean. They look dirtier in person but then again I did not go to crazy because I want to add it in a dio or vignette later but not sure what type of location.

Wow, looks really impressive. I hope I manage to get something that looks a fraction as good as this when I start my first model / paint in a couple of days -- it will be my first stab at this in over 20 years!
Cheers,
Ian
