Guys and gals,

My M88 progress stage one was removed because of server maintanence. Therefore, I reposted the stage I and II as follows. At the stage II, I airbrushed the kit with OD and the decals are from the kit , Archers Transfer and VPs'. All comments are welcome.

That`s one mighty beast you have there. I like it and I can`t wait till those really cool figures are added that will finish this whole machine.

Faust,

The kit is easy to build but there are some errors on the instructions, so be careful. Yup, the track links are indy track-links. "Jeepney" got the M88A1 but he told me that the track from the kit is one piece plastic one.

Hope this helps.

Looks great stephanus! The only thing that I would change if you can is the tracks. There shouldn't be any sag to them as they are live tracks.

Steve-O aka "Da Sushi Dude"

Another great effort on your part Steve!

As usual your build is crisp and clean, with a great paint job!

This is good stuff---this looks like a tough build with lots of detail parts but I see from your earlier post that you moved through the construction phase successfully. Congrats on another great kit.

Modeler of the month material in my opinion!!

As I have 2 of these at home (not the Nam versions) I have followed you postings and think you have made a great job on this beauty. Although I build mostly WW2 this really took my fancy. Hopefully some day Iīll get around to building it and it will turn out half as good!

faust........ Both Revell and AFV make this kit. Revellīs version has rubber tracks and AFV make 3 different versions of it. 1 is the `nam one here and then there is 2 versions similar, 1 with rubber tracks and one with links. I have the tracks made up for mines..... couldnīt resist playing with them ........ the best I have ever seen! make sure you get the kit with the working tracks..... they are so cool!

Guys,

Thanks for all your useful comments on the M88 Nam Version. Actually, I haven't finished weathering it cause I am still working on a T35 with Adam.
Adam, thanks for your opinion about the tracks, I was not sure there should be no sag and I thought that it would be natural if a bit sag was added on the tracks.

Are you really working on that T-35 or are you fibbing?

Look at photos of modern US vehicles and even the Sherman and you will see what I mean. A vehicle with live tracks has no sag or at least not enough of one to talk about. There are some examples below:

Those are great pics, thanks for posting them. They'll come in handy when I get into the finishing stages of my A1, I haven't seen several of them before.
Also, Sabot had posted a bunch of photos of an M88 that was in his maintenance bay. They're in the msn group albums if I remember right.

Steve-O aka "Da Sushi Dude"

Did you do your preshading paint method before your applied the olive drab base coat? If so, can you explain how you do it Steve? I've tried this method twice, and wound up covering the original dark base coat no matter how carefully I tried to apply the OD. Can you give us a few "how to "hints on this process? Thanks.

Nice job.I oughta show pictures of mine that I built shortly after the very 1st kit was released.
Fo the no sag,if you can, remove a block, maybe that would be enough. But,if you can't,move the excess to the area between the idler and first roadwheel, and the sprocket and last road wheel.

Tank,

I have already shortened the track a bit to make no sag on the tracks, Thanks for your opinion. I can't wait to see your M88 on the post.
