Hi all,
Well, I've been on a roll. This is the 3rd kit I've finished in two weeks. This is the 1/48th Tamiya M4 Sherman, my first ever 1/48th armor piece. I've built it as part of a group build for my local club, and if I have it done by Tuesday, it's free! A nice chance to work on my painting skills; I wanted a nice, dusty look. I have no other stuff in this scale, no figures, no stowage, etc., so it's built OOTB with just a metal antenna. In 1/35th I'd do all sort of weld seam work, etc., but not for this. Painted as a tank from the 756th TB in Italy, ca. 1944. It'll be a gift for my father-in-law. Thanks for looking.
Rob

Good work Rob, I like the dusty appearance. I built the Tamiya 1/48 M4A1 recently and enjoyed it.

I wish they'd have chosen the M4A1 rather than the M4....I'd have liked to have options for mantlets and transmission covers, which I know the A1 provides. I find it annoying that one of the marking options in this kit was for Hurricane, when Hurricane really had the 1 piece cover. Such is life!

Thanks for all the kinds words.
I did it in this scheme b/c I'm planning an A1 of the 2nd AD on Sicily with a similar look to it....this gave me a chance to experiment a bit.
Funny thing: I brought it to my club last night, and everyone else complained about the fit of the kit, the tracks, etc. And I just said I had no problems with it and, in some ways, preferred it to the 1/35th scale one, since at least this one has the correct suspension. The lack of figures, extra equipment, or choices with trans housing and mantlet are it's only real flaws, in my opinion.
Oh, and on closer examination, one of these guys built his with the tracks on backwards! No WONDER they didn't fit right!
