Hello, This is my last finished model. Fresh off my desk. Weathering achieved with acrylic paints only this time. No pigments on this one except on the lower hull and running gear. Detailed explanation if needed could be provided. One thing I want to mention now is that after all was done, the model had a dull finish to it, so it was dry brushed with glossy oil paintng medium on the green areas to add some life and I think this worked well. Many improvements in these methods will be made on my next model. Any comments welcome, Dmitry
More detail pics on the way in a few hours.

Very nice Dmitry. A very unique looking tank the IS-3. Is it a Dragon kit? Also what scale? I am assuming 1/35 but with the new 1/72 kits out there I ain't 100% sure.

A beautiful job painting and weathering this one. Very nice.
The only nit --- please note on your close up front hull pic, that the upper and lower hull appear to have a gap along the seam. Perhaps some mud can cover this.
You've got a great looking IS here.
Congrats on a fine build.
Steve
ps: No markings on this one?

Dmitry,
I agree with Steve re: the gap at the glacis join. Otherwise it is yet another outstanding model from you. I especially enjoy the combination of dry & wet mud - you pulled that technique off very convincingly! Also, you nailed the track color down perfectly, IMHO. Very nice weathering that really accentuates the rather spartan exterior of this vehicle!
Thanks for sharing,
Kirchoff

Impressive hunk of plastic you have there! Wondering what you used for the greens.

Dmitry,
Otleechnee! The paintwork and weathering is outstanding. Didn't you say at one point that you bought this already built off of ebay just to practice your technique?
This glossy oil paintng medium you used to liven up the flat finish...was it green oils with with "glossy medium" added or did you drybrush the stuff right on to the existing green? and what is the product you used?
Your finished work is always impressive. Go on down to Fells Point and relax for a bit, you deserve it after that.

This is a very nice build, with some excellent paint and great weathering!
I really like the look of the tracks...the sag is very realistic.

Thank you guys. Some brief answers:
1. The kit is from Tamiya. 1/35. OOB. Excellent build.
2. I will fix that hull front next.
3. The tracks are plain metal will a couple of coats of Blacken-It with anybe a few brown washes. The simplest part of the whole thing!
4. The green is a variety of colors. I start with Tamiya NATO green and then many washes and dilters change that color. I use Sap Green Oil as standard green when I need to fill in any areas. It is very bright.
5. The gloss painting medium was applied straight, but right after some drybrushing with Sap Green, so it was used to spread the dry brushed paints a little and blend everything together.
6. I will soon right a little somethingto explain the finish in more detail.
Thank you for all the comments,
Dmitry

Very nice job.
The dirt/mud is very convincing. How did you do it?

Great work.
I am also interested in how you died the cross between dried and wet mud.

Fixing the hull join will solve the biggest problem, and I like the paint job. The sag in the tracks looks a bit extreme, though. While IS-2's slowly negotiating the mountains of rubble in Berlin were sometimes seen with incredibly slack tracks, that was not the norm for Stalins, and the vehicle as shown would be in danger of throwing a track at even moderate speeds. You might want to lose a link or two.

I think the track sag looks fine, but then again, I haven't seen that many pics of JS-3s. The ones I have seen always seemed to have that heavy sag.
Either way, I still think this is a sweet build.

Very nicely done. Love the weathering and the realistic tracks.
