Can you guys help me out here. I want to build big T's T-72M kit into a T-72M1. However it has a turret that is not so good on it. Who sells or makes a good T-72M1 turret? I have searched all over for one.
Thanks in advance

Blast Models piece is oriented to those who want to build Iraqi license built T-72s. It is great turret replacement, but also costly. JS models made "european" version, but it is hard to find nowadays. There is also AEF designs T-72M1 turret. There is a picture of it from atop on producer's page and it looks quite good, but the rest of their soviet armor being questionable to say the least and lack of side views of the particular piece makes it an odd choice.

I made the mistake of buying the Verlindin set, not realizing it was an early turret.... I will look into these other options. Thanks for the help!!!

I think the Blast one is a russian M1 version, but it has additional parts for czech, finnish and iraki version. This is the link with some pics:

Well, the Blast model turret has some distinct features unique strictly to Iraqi turrets, you will have to cut and add here and there to turn it into Pollock or Czech turret. Besides, triple digit price tag is something to think about. Verlinden turret can be converted into latter M1 version with Milliput in about two to three nights, but again it will also require to make some tedious minor additions. Also Verlinden's piece has odd shape, master seems to resemble limited, very first Czech made turret, but not entirely. I would go for AEF turret, given it has right slopes sideways, review anyone ?:| By the way, you will also have to replace road wheels to late 6 dented type.

I looked up the Blast models kit and fell out of my chair at the price!

For the JS models turret:
http://www.kolumbus.fi/martti.kuivalainen/engindex.html
They don't show the T-72 turret in their list, but you could ask em.
See hre for a review, and a general idea of it's differences with the Tamiya turret (you might even try changing the Tamiya turret yourself).

I learned that JS-Models is reportedly out of business, and AEF Designs has gone down the proverbiazll toilet. Sorry.

Technically speaking (I didn't know you could speak technical) the Tamiya kit is a T-72M1, or so.
IF you MUST go with AEF Designs, do it through Andrew at Historica Books, he will offer the kind of customer support AEF is famously known not to.
AEF Designs T-72G/M
T-72M1
Exactly what variant of the -M1 are you trying to do? A Russian manufactured -M1 for export will be different than a Polish one, or a Czech one. And other "local" manufactured versions, like in Iraq, will have their own peculiarities. This will help to nail down a alternate source for you or maybe a better suggestion...

Czech one, as my reference book is all Czech T-72M/M1's.

Hi all!
The JS models T-72M1 turret is still available from Kuivalainen webstore:
http://www.kolumbus.fi/martti.kuivalainen/finindex.html
In recent trip to Moscow I was able to have a close look at real russian T-72A turret and it is practically same as our scrapped T-72M1īs.
The turret is not currently displayed on list but they do exist and are still in production.
My two cents,
Sampo M
