Hi all,

Here is some progress on my latest project. The kit is from AFV Club and has been build OOTB.

Comments and questions are very welcome.

The only thing left are the tracks and some dust on the lowerhull of the vehicle

Very Nice Centurion, is it a British Cent? The weathering is spot on though.

Nope It's a plastic one , but I added some british decals on it.

You forgot to add the lifting lugs on the front of the turret, just above the smoke launchers. The bore evacuator on the main gun needs to be position correctly. The taller portion should be straight up on top of the barrel.

Indeed I forgot the lifting lugs... and you are also right about the bore evacutor. But I's already fixed with epoxy glue so I can't change it anymore , better luck next time. I hope I make the mistakes up with the paint job and weathering part

Hello mate, really like the paintwork especially the skirts and exhaust, got one of these still sitting in its box.....sorry for my gripe.....no offence meant, but you really need to sort out the main gun, the famous L7 105mm, fume extractor is very noticable.......I don't know if you can alter it now but there is a build review I read somewhere who suggested cutting the barrel and removing the part where the fume extractor sits

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/afvclub/afv35100.htm

Only other thing would be make sure the drive sprocket teeth are located in the track correctly.......

Thanks for the reply,

I don't know about the Main gun. I just build it OOTB But I'll get me another centurion for sure

The tracks are fortunately one piece vinyl so I'll fix it right away.

Martin.
Cut it behind the 'Fume Extractor' and spin it. you wil not see the join. a fine toothed blade will do the job if you don't force the cut, let the blade do the work.
Paint the internal fire extinguisher pull handles (next to the side lights) Red.

This is the first kit to get the commanders sight correct. The X9 periscopic binos were different to other MBT's.

Nice job....

Very nice finish. I was going to suggest spinning the fume extractor as well, as there's nothing to stop it from rotating. Perhaps a small rag tightened around it for a grip?
As for theright hand track, if you rotate it, the upward curving portion (probably from how it was stored in the box) will be curved around the sprocket and it'll look much better.
A few minor corrections and you've got a really nice Centurion.

Just a point to note !
Until the introduction of the Clansmen radios, the antenna's in service with the Larkspur system came in 4ft sections. The norm being seen in use was the middle and top sections. Commonly known as 'the 8ft whip' antenna.
Now and then you would find all three sections in use, topping out at 12ft. obviously.

On the Armoured cars in service at the time, Saladin, Ferret, Saracen and the early years of the CVR(T)'s you may have seen one or more using a ratchet base adaptor, allowing them to be laid back at different angles.
Some Saladins and ferrets also used a local manufactored V shape adaptor sporting two 8ft sections for what was thought to be better transmission and reception....

Antennas on British vehicles would not be a curved one.
When Clansmen came into service, it went down to a single 3ft section....Nowadays, with the new Bowman system, we are beginning to resemble the Americans with their enormously long and ungainly antenna's.

These are not good for use in hides as they cannot be concealed so easily....

Keith.

Great job on the Centution. I like the subtle scratches and weathering. Too bad you turned the barrel the wrong way, but still a very nice build.
