Hi folks, just finished this build. I was bitten by the Stryker bug too

The Trumpeter kit was improved using AFV Club RWS and decals, Voyager suspension covers, Real Model wheels and mixing stowage from the kit, Real Models and Legend Productions, plus some scratch and kitbashed bits here and there.

Paint job was done using Tamiya and Citadel acrylics, weathering with oils and Mig Pigments.

Let me know what you think. Comments much welcome as usual

Cheers

Hi Klaus. Although its not from my own preferred era, I like it very much.
All the stowage and straps are excellent ... the AFV magazine is cool ... it dates the model to when it was made. Nice weathering as well. A figure in the turret would have really brought this to life!

Thanks for your comments people.

The straps were made with Tamiya masking tape. I´m planning to place it in a small vignette, so I´ll buy a couple of proper figures.

I also have the Stryker from AF Club, I´m currently waiting for the both Blast Models stowage sets to start building it, will also have resin wheels and PE for the suspension covers. Wish me luck.

Cheers

Klaus:

Nice job with the Trumpeter kit, which is quite lacking. I especially like the weathering of the wheels. The antennas are in the wrong spots - Trumpeter got that wrong. Also, one is supposed to be an EPLRS and these are shorter and thicker than the other two.

The other problem with the Trumpeter kit is there are no footman loops to tie down the gear, so some less than desireable shotcuts are needed, unless the Eduard PE footman loops are purchased. Examples are the straps on the rear jerrycans. They tie down to the roof where the footman loops are located. You did what you had to do to avoid that. Same thing with the spare wheel. The straps go down to the side of the hull where there are footman loops.

Thanks for your feedback Robert. You´re right about the kit, I tried to do my best without using more PE than I was able to manage (haven´t been lucky using all the small parts from Eduard )

I guess the only advantage of Trumpeter it´s the price. But it was a fun build nevertheless. I´ll do more of both brands in the future, hope that some manufacturer soon release an injection slat armour (for those goofs in PE like me )

Hope to get a better one using the AFV Club kit.

Cheers

Great job on this build. May I ask what did you use for weathering & how much did the Real model tires set you back??

Thanks Charles, no problem with th Real Models wheels, they were designed for the Trumpeter kit and weren´t that expensive. Good quality casting. Only problem its the scar left on it by the casting block, but if you´re careful and patient and place the wheel with the scar down, iy wont be noticed.

I used Mig Pigments and artist oils for weathering.

Cheers
