Hi guys. My tank was quiet for a while, 'cause it was in a regional contest as a W.I.P. Now I need your help (thank you Dmitry for your cons).
As it is from the Chechnyan theatre, should you paint it in a 3 tones-camouflage scheme or do you think Overall Russian Green is the best choice? And in this case which is in your opinion the right green among the Tamiya acrilc range?
This pic just to remember. Thanks in advance to all of you .
Cheers.
Guido

I don't think there is one right color. Russians are very liberate with their greens
It looks great as it is...

Hey Guido
What a stunning model, unfortunately it had to be covered with paint now.
I would go with a plain green one, worn and weathered. I for one think that a mixture of Tamiya Nato Green and a bit of grey/dark grey could look fine. But Im not sure as I didnīt try this mixture.
But that are just my 2 cent. Anyway, it will end in a real stunner, thats sure my friend
Best regards,
Andy T.

All photo's I have seen of the T-90 in Chechnya show it as all green. That does not mean they all are, but...
They are not to terribly worn looking, except for the obligatory fenders and side skirts, but tend to be heavily covered with dust and dirt more than anything. So have at it with the pastels and pigments.
Looking forward to seeing this one getting done.

Stunning work Guido! Looking forward to see it painted.
I also would go with overall green. Maybe this pic could act as a model:
T-72B . It's look nice with the skull .
For russian green color, I personally prefer a mixture with olive green (XF-58) and yellow green colors. And it looks like this
Yes it's pretty light, actually it's a mixture 50:50 with these mentioned colors, but I wanted a faded green tone for this tank. You could also take japanese army green or/and field grey, too. But don't forget too add a bit yellow green/desert yellow (what ever), otherwise it will be a very dark tone.
Btw: T-72BM or T-72B(M) is an unofficial designation. The correct one is T-72B model 1988 and so on.

I'm taking care to make a painting step by step of my T72 on Zimmerit, an italian modelling forum.
This is the link.
www.zimmerit.com
So I show you the first 3 pics of this job. The first with the primer coating. The second with semigloss black preshading and the third with green base coat applied.
Other pics will follow as soon as possible.
Thanks to all of you. Cheers.

for my T-72, I started with XF58. The deep parts I used the same colour mixed with blue, for the high parts I used the same colour mixed with yellow. Then I covered it all with washes, mud and pigments
I don't know if it's too late, but the plate next to the fuel cells is actually rubber and to make it more realistic you can bend it a bit (If it does not destroy your fantastic scratch work)
Cheers,
Matthijs
