After building 1/48 only, this is my 1st foray into 1/35.I enjoyed the kit although the instructions in some areas were vague, the online build featured here was very helpful. The main problem was my dissatisfaction with my handpainted camo,I just didn't trust myself with the airbrush.I used Friul replacement tracks, and I cheated on the figure,he is from the Can.do pocket army.Otherwise I think I did a decent job,not like some of the masterpieces I see here, but I am happy.
Thanks for looking.......

Figure is superb. Wish I could paint little people to resemble your work. Very nicely done.

Guys you obviously didn't read Anthony's post.
He says that he didn't paint the figure but bought it, now i'm not having a go, its an honest mistake, it's just that it annoys me when people don't read anything but just look at the pictures.
Now he has two comments on a figure he didnt paint and I beleive the kit is the DML version already with zimmerit, and so your comments are of little use to him as constructive feedback. I've had the same thing happen to me in the past and it is annoying.
Anthony, I mean you no disrespect here, you have built a lovely looking kit, and the camo is great for brush painted, however, from what I can tell you have the skill to try with the airbrush - its less daunting than you think. I also think you have done a great job of painting the spare tracks and exhaust, very tricky areas. You have also set the transfers well over the zimmerit, something I find very difficult and so I think you have far more skill than you give yourself credit for, go the whole hog next time!
One point I should make is that you have painted the 'holder' for the shovel blade (the half circle bit) the same colour as the spade, this just be dark yellow like the base colour of the tank.
Great job and push the boat out next time!
P.S. read the text in posts guys!
Cheers,
James

I think your paint job looks fine. Is it really cheating on the figure if you tell everyone up front that it is bought? maybe a little

James thanks for the clarifications, its strange because I did do tri-color on my 1/48 Jagdpanther with my airbrush (see below) and the results were good.It was just a confidence thing,I didnt want to wreck the $35.00 kit, thanks for the encouragement, next time I wiil try it !!!

If you want to do some camo up with the airbrush, try three-color hard edge camo using the silly-putty/poster tack method. You basically mask off the colors with a removable putty as its much easier then masking tape over the contours. Try something simple like a Jagdpanzer/Hetzer/Sturmtiger with slab sides. You can do the same basic style and add 'dot's for an ambush setup which always wows everyone and its not THAT hard. A lot of camo patterns are also quite wispy and not very structured and it gives you a lot of leeway too. It doesn't need to be perfect as it was far from it field-applied patterns. Just try it on some scraps when you have extra paint in the airbrush working on something else. The Jadgpanther there looks fine to me. Funny enough, I put way more effort into shading a one-color model then a camouflaged one, with sometimes mixing up 10 shades of the base color.

Anthony,
looks pretty good to me. Don't sweat it too much over the hand painted camo. I've been airbrushing for years, but when I came to do the Tamiya Char B1 bis I confess it defeated me. The camo pattern was so distinctive & complicated, & was hard edged & outlined in black to boot, I couldn't see how I would ever spray it, so I gave in & hand painted it! Remember lots of German vehicles had the camo hand applied anyway.
I think you got done with the figure! He's wearing the camoflauged panzer uniform, so should be in "pea pattern" for accuracy. From your photo he appears to be wearing "oak leaf", which was used on the one piece combination, as in the DML LAH Panzer Crew set.

When I started airbrushing I simply started by painting on sheets of paper and scrap models (and anything else that I didn't mind getting covered in paint). It is a great way to practice and you can't screw it up. You can only learn from it.
