Now that Tamiya has release the JS-2 in 1/35 scale, does anyone know if Tamiya will release one in 1/48 scale ?
I would really love to get a couple of the JS-2 in 1/48 scale

Most likely one will appear within one year. Once they have the 1/35 patterns, shrinking them to quarter-scale is pretty trivial, considering the super-duper computerized machines they have. Besides, they want to maximize the R&D budget, maybe one day they'll even do 1/72. 1/48 is what saved Tamiya from total debacle in the AFV dept.: their 1/35 are certainly no match for the latest Dragon offerings and not even cheaper!

I love the 1/48 AND 1/35 latest releases, the B1Bis, JS2 and Hetzer are great! There are lots of recent Dragon release that are less than ideal, and a pain to build (poor fit and overly complex assemblies).
As for the JS2, if you can't wait, there's a nice one available in resin from Gasoline.
Cheers,
Christophe

In absolute terms, yes, they're good kits, but they're not a good bang for your bucks.
Compared to Dragon's latest offerings, no, not even close.
Tamiya can only improve on *OLDER* Dragon kits, like the JS-2 and Hetzer.
I'm glad they did the JS-2 though, because the Dragon kit has slight yet noticeable dimensional problems (hull height) and the Italeri/Zvezda offering is old, hard to build and devoid of details.
