How about a campaign where you build the vehicle you were on in the service.

1. No restrictions on the type of vehicle, but it has to be a vehicle you actually served on while you were in the military.

2. Markings and Paint need to be for your vehicle and time frame.

I like that idea Carl.....pretty cool.

Need to find either a really good M577 or an Italeri M923 or an M151A2......

This one may well take off.

Yeah, I have two M60A1 Dinosaurs sitting in my closet. That is where the idea came from.

I could also do a HMMWV or even a jeep from my very early days. I was in a few NG units in college. In one unit I had 155 towed. In the other unit I was on M48A5s.

I should make a change on this one from "Vehicle" to "Military Hardware" This would open it up to more people who served, but didn't actually have a vehicle. So we can then include towed artillerie, mortars, and just about anything else that is actually molded or poured into kit form.

argh.....no kits for the troop carrier I drove but then again who wants to make a model of a fiberglass, all-terrain, amphibious vehicle

Carl, it's an obvious discrimination - I was excluded from service due to my studies on academy and due to my knee's condition (post basketball…), so I cannot build anything in this campaign ....

Have a lot of fun building tanks which barrels you had to clean until they were hot from brushing .
As I said I cannot join this one, but I'll be keeping eye on what you will be building!

An even better idea you have......I'm sure most service members got toted about in "something," however, "My unit had this vehicle and that's what we went to the field in/war in," et cetera, it could indeed awaken the lust to build.

Shoot - from aircraft to hovercraft to APCs to tanks to trucks to "feet". We all got there one way or another. Considering our current crop of Warriors; those in combat right now at times get from point A to point B by the "never failing LPCs." "Hardware" may fit that well.....squad of Grunts leave their base on foot....someone's carrying a grenade launcher, a rifle, a SAW......THIS could well draw the figgy builders in too!!

So, maybe.....IF you served ON it, WITH it, CARRIED it, LUGGED it around, RODE in it, SHOT it, or otherwise.....hmmmmmmm.

EDIT: Something for consideration for the "walkin' Grunts" that may be included(?):

I wasn't a Grunt, but a CannonCocker...but I carried the 203. This figgy is on my bench right now...to do a Mini-Mini-Me. The biggest differences between what I wore/carried versus the figgy is the Flak Vest I had worn was Woodland and the 3-shot 40mm carriers were not "attached" to anything, but in a plastic lined pouch with straps that went across the chest....no...didn't have one of those really kool 203 vests. Now, dude above is carrying in his LEFT hand a soda.....HA! I'm sure I can find or make a 120mm water bottle. (or is that one of the "near-beers???"!)

I did this figure of me back in the early 90's, after returning from Iraq. I have a picture of myself, wearing the same equipment, and sunglasses, in exactly the same pose, while in Iraq. I found the figure when I was in Germany and did it to match the picture of me. It has been through4 moves, and rebuilt after each move. But it is me

I am inclined to allow a close relative's vehicle. So you would make three.

I already did myself in Iraq, so I would love to do one of my M60A1s from the 2/6 Cav.circa 1982-84.

I've actually been kicking around the idea of modeling the M927 that I was assigned to while in the Army. The only issue for me would be the PATRIOT ECS and all of the stuff that goes along with that (Gas Particulate Filter Unit, (2) air conditioners, SINGARS antenna for the launchers, etc). My scratch biulding skills aren't all that good.

This is one I could sink my teeth into. I always wanted to do my tank. But which one the M1A1 I had in Berlin with the 40th Armor, or the one I had as a Co at Ft Hood in 1-67AR. Ah the choices one has to make.

Either way it sounds like a great campaign. Count me in.

How is one supposed to do markings for their exact vehicle?

I would be interested in doing the 2-1/2 ton truck (w/ .50 cal) assigned to me in Iraq. How I would come up with markings is beyond me. I don't make my own decals.

Archer makes a wide variety of stenciled letters. Kitbashing for decals. Hand painted. Nobody said it would be easy.

Went easier than I thought, Kits have arrived and are in my storage area waiting their turn, I got one Dragon, and one Academy (will be interesting to see how the two kits compare).

When is the start date for this campaign?

We never got enough interest to get this one off the ground. But it still hanging around in case we get some more interest in it.

That is too bad, I thought iw would be a great campaign. I will remain in a hull defelade position on this one. The kits are on the shelf ready to go whenever we get enough support.
