SU-100 here are some shots of my SU-100 it is the Dragon premium edition with Aber fenders and some parts from an old Aber T-34 kit.

The texturing on the hull was done with Humbrol putty and liquid glue the weld lines where done with Milliput (slightly over scale) gun and mantel are armour scale I bought before the kit was released.

This is the first time I was partly successful using solder with brass.

Looking good Jerry. All those etched grills and beaten extra fuel cells, will really come to life when painted up and weathered accordingly. Would recommend using Magic sculpt instead of milliput for making welds ... much easier to work with. Ive tried milliput before, but thought it was too hard to get fine enough, to look right.

Jerry,

Looking good. Especially the grill work with the bends in them, like someone stepped on them. Good detail.

@ yankeearty, yeah they are from Mig Productions , really nice but while cleaning them up I broke the attaching brackets which are very fine I attempted to mount them with the Aber t-34 etch set mounts which are very complex , but that proved beyond my still and patience levels so I cleaned them up and mounted them on the kit supports. I feel they are probably a little thick but seemed to do the job.

@ Frank , milliput is a very strange substance sometimes it works well on weld lines sometimes not, depending on how much drying time it has had. Next time I will try Magic Sculpt

Example 1 was done second when the milliput was a little harder
Example 2 was done first hence the more refined finish.

@ Steve, those engine vents took two goes the first time was a disaster with solder the replacement Aber set look okay provided one does not look to closely.

Some more details which worked okay

Best wishes thanks for looking

A very nice 100!!!
Actually, there is a cool film about SU-100`s commander 2nd leutenant Malezhkin and his crew. The film is called "At war as at war (Na voine kak na voine)" (business is business). That film was dedicated to the Rybalko`s 3rd Guardian Tank Army. The film is very realistic really, was made in 1964, all vechicles are real.

Hi Jerry. If I had images of my attempts, they´d look pretty similar to these. And it also stuck to everythng except these bits I wanted. I found the magic sculpt so much easier to work with. Even green stuff (the games workshop blue and yellow stuff) is good to use for welds like this.

Aleksey,

Great to hear from you , asided from the picture is slightly over exposed , I was thinking it was a little too dark and lightened it again last night, When I put on some washes and "filters" they should darken it up a bit , Thanks for your imput

Best wishes

Here’s another up date on my SU-100

Attempted to bring out some detail by using lighter shades on the upper parts also added the reminiance of a very woren white wash.

All comments and and suggestions welcome

The slogan should read “Remember Zoya”

Thanks for looking ,

Hey!
There is a mistake in the slogan. The last letter in the girl`s name must be "E"

Guys,

Does any one have any tips on the best way to weather gun barrels , I have just noticed I have been conspicuously ignoring the barrel of the SU-100 because I have never been happy with the weather effects I achieved in the past. Basically my result are never subtle enough – I wan to depict weathering caused to the paint by constant heating and cooling caused by fighting through winter , brushing against branches, rained on, snowed on climbed on &c…

Thanks in advance,

Jerry
