OK- Not sure where this came from but while doing my nightly rounds I had a very odd & (to me, anyway) interesting idea for a group build or campaign. Many of us on the site are familiar with Operation: GREIF, a plan devised by the OKW during the Ardennes breakout (Battle Of The Bulge) to use A group of english-speaking Kommando under Otto Skorzeny, along with captured & 'Ersatz' Allied vehicles to capture vital roads & crossings, & to sow fear & confusion among the allied armies in the area. One of the most famous & built examples of these Vehicles is the 'ersatz' M-10 TD based on a Panther chassis. The operation was largely a failure, but some great modeling Ideas have come of it.
I'm not suggesting this is one of them ...
BUT

What about an Operation FIERG- In which the Allies make a daring thrust into the heart of th Ruhr Valley, or Colmar, or even just a better-planned & executed Task Force Baum Raid on the Hammelburg Stalag?

Think of it- Send a group of Paras in Glders & captured German Kit to seize all important intersections & bridges on the route, & some commandos to scout the way.
Then send a column of jeeps fitted out as Schwimm/Kubelwagens, M2 halftracks mocked up as SdKfz7's, Some M7 Preists with sides cut down, roofed over, & dressed to resemble Stug's, A few M-10s turned out as Panthers( ) Some Fireflies given a sheetmetal treatment to resemble Mk IV's(Schurzen on an HVSS anyone?), even some M8 Greyhounds with a Bogus set of roadwheels imitating a Puma or other 8-rad. Heck, you may even be able to knock an M8 HMG into some semblance of Marder.

You could even envision an attack from the east, driving on Berlin with M34' disguised as Tiger 1's (Now where'd I get that Idea... , Su76's kitted out as Stug's or Jagdpanzers...

i realize we've done similar work in the past, like hollyweird buildups, but what think you of this Idea? any vehicle in use by the allies (Yes, even wingy-thingies) could be used. I think the possibilities are endless.
And like the old T2K- builds, a description of the plan/operation/mission in which the vehicle was used could really liven it up.

Just an Idea...
