Here's another overview of the T-55 kits. I think the last two paragraphs have some very nice advice how best utilize it, if you already have the SKIF kit. You might want to consider it - if someone threw the kit at me, I would.
Play around with it; it's a good practice anyway; you'll be less reluctant to experiment.
(I don't get it by the way. Trumpeter, and SKIF both messed up their T-55, and it's not like they didn't have access to the originals...)

I know how James feels with this one.
I basically only model WW2 stuff as its my main area of interest, however, browsing my LHS I made an impulse buy when I fancied something a little different and picked up the trumeter T-55, re-boxed by Hobby Craft Canada with Iraqi markings as I fancied playing around at doing a destroyed tank. Now like James as im not an expert in this area im not too fussed about accuracy, but did my research into how some basic touches (ie adding external fuel lines etc.) could help improve the kit.
However, since reading this thread i'm now thinking about picking up a skiff kit as a cheap way of getting a simple interior and a bit of PE to improve some details to boot, also it should be a fun bit of kit bashing, and may even lead to a more accurate kit overall.
Good luck with your build James, have fun with it as I will. If anything it may inspire you to build more late Russian armour and if so next time you can get more accurate about it. Until then have fun with what you've got, and as the guys say, use it to experiment with some techniques.

Having read a lot of your thousand plus post here I was very surprised by your answer. The truth need not be painful. This site is one of the few on the Internet where people still help others – I really would not like to see that change. Hence - Lighten up Gary...
Sorry, Neo, didn't mean to run a foul of the Political Correct police. I write the way I speak, that goes for the internet or nose to nose (for our lurking Afgan member). He wanted to know what to expect of the kit, so I gave him my opinion of it. As far as helping people on here, I've done plenty of that. What I do tire of is, the type who do the passive-agressive stuff. The only time they post is to cry about how someone worded a reply. They're never there with the info or pics, as I have been many a time. So I guess, if you have something to add as to the kit or things in that nature, great. If you just want to whine about my lack of cooth, butt out.
Oh, just a question, why is it you don't use your real name?
I remember you as a one who likes to tell people to use the search part.I try this many times but with no satisfaction.I do not find this as helpful as ones who use the time to answer with words.Or better when they answer with pictures.

It was not the content of what you said he asked you to lighten up. It was the sound of it! So don't worry about saying the truth! I appreciate reading the truth here.... but do it only in a little nicer way I'd say. No problem then anymore. We're a community, we should be careful not to abuse people...
