This is the Tamiya jeep with a crew from the Miniart MP set.
The standing guy is a perfect fit. The other two go together really well but the driver needs some work to fit the Tamiya jeep. Miniart are bringing out their own Bantam so he'll probably be a perfect fit for that.
The seated passenger's right arm is raised as if resting on something so I'll put a box or a tarp under the arm.
The Jeep I built in a day.
The wheels, radiator and lights are missing in the photos. I built it out of the box apart from changing the wire cutter on the front bumper and adding a stowage rack from plastic card.
The plan is to have some German prisoners sitting on the bonnet and I have this set on it's way to me now (I hope)

Pat,
The standing guy really does fit well in there. Question tho....he's holding a Luger? I'm assuming a couple of things....U.S. Jeep....U.S. MPs....German prisoners on the hood. Luger seems "odd." "War Trophy?"

The jeep crew in the Miniart MP set are not meant to be MPs. They are being stopped by the MPs I guess.
My idea is that the guy with the luger has taken it from one of the prisoners.

I really like the poses of the figures but , to me at least, MiniArt heads look like they belong on models of Neanderthal Men. I don't believe the facial features are well sculpted. I always replace them (with the exception of the German winter Tank Crew) with Hornet, Warriors or other aftermarket heads. Your choices are very limited forAmerican or Soviet kits.
Thanks for sharing your pics with us.

I mostly agree with you there. I think the figures are mostly excellent, and while I've used a few of their heads, most of them get replaced on my dios with Hornet heads. I am not sure what you mean about limited choices though - Hornet do several Soviet sets and a couple US sets as well. I do wish they'd do a US set in 'jeep' caps.

Well thank the gods for that Pat! I thought it could have been my screen settings...
Just kidding mate. This is coming together nicely, and I like the scene you have planned...
Boy, do they look miffed! You will have to find even more miffed faces for the prisoners...
The extras on the GP are good, and will add a false impression of it's size when done methinks, especially with different figure heights as well...Look forward to more progress

Here are a couple of shots with the prisoners on the hood
I bought the Warriors Cameraman in the same order as the prisoners and I'm thinking of adding him to the scene. Either filming the jeep or facing out filming something with the jeep crew and prisoners looking on.
I have another jeep that I might build as the cameraman's. I saw some good photos of correspondents jeeps somewhere recently.
Jeff, Danny for sure the Miniart heads aren't as goodlooking as Hornet ones
The top of the head is a little short to make up for the thickness. I like the ugliness of the faces compared to the Aryan handsomeness of the german figures- as we would say here "Super race how are ye!":)
Brad I think it was through one of your posts that I found Firestorm models where it is cheaper for me to buy Warrior figures than from any UK or US supplier - thanks

I was looking for Jeep pics and just came across the photo the Warrior prisoners are based on
Pic is from the IWM site
Description: Three German prisoners are brought in on the bonnet of an Army Film and Photographic Unit jeep by Sgt Bert Hardy, AFPU official photographer, Hamont, 21 September 1944.

the driver needs some work to make him fit and his left arm wil need to be rebuilt to hold the steering wheel.

I like the Miniart heads so I kept them, maybe when I paint them I'll regret my decision

Still working on it- honestly. Trying to improve my painting skills before I tackle the figures faces, I'll post pics of it soon.

Pat, that's disusting, you stole my idea, being precisely Miniart MP and german prisonier..
Ok ok, not a very original idea, but still mine. Next time I will have to go faster..
Great exceution. can wait to see progress.
Personally I like very muche the Miniart heads, they've got a lot of character, for a cheap price. Frankly, Tamiya, Italieri and even Dragon, and Masterbox in a less degree, are just crap compared to miniart heads.
one question Pat : only one figure is wearing a helmet, and the angle is not so good to evaluate, but does the fitting between the head and the hemet is good ?
Best,
Julien

I think so Julien, I'm not totally convinced by the helmets- the lip around the rim of the sides is too pronounced I think, Here is the helmet of the officer fitted

Well they certainly don't have the "pretty-boy-Tom Crusie" look.
Mine arrived today, haven't had a chance for a closer look yet.
Your little vignette is shaping up nicely, I like the photographer taking the photo of the jeep verse taking a photo out of the scene.
