This is my first model I just got into the hobby, went to the local hobbystore and bought this thing. I've been lurking around forums and websites to gather knowledge so I could paint the best I could in the first attempt. I got myself a iwata airbrush and a small compressor and I started... I used oil to wash and pastel to weather. Here's the final result, tell me what you think.

The paint looks good, but if you were to work on the seams where two parts join, the paint would look even better. The overall weathing is good and I like the front "star" the best.

Hi Mathieu,
Much better than my first effort. Well done, you're off to a good start. Nice clean looking build and the finish is fairly good.
Have fun
Al

hi
well i wish my first build had come out that well! its lookin good.
the only negative point i would make is the sand bags on the front look abit stuck on, there is no sag in them, but i guess they are molded plastic ones so there isnt alot you could do about that. prehaps on a future model try making them your self out of putty.
just a thought, dont take it as critisizm of your handywork, your off to a great start!

You did a great job with the paint and weathering....especially for your very first model. One thing I would reccommend on your next build is to hollow out the ends of your machinegun barrell a bit. It will add a good deal of realism and is easy as heck to do. I use a #11 exacto blade and put the tip right in the middle of the end of the barrell and give it a few twists.

Wow, this is your first build?!?! Dude, you've got the knack. Stick with it, and I cant wait to see what you can do in a year from now! I liked everything. The one star decal was "silvering" a bit. Next model, get yourself some "micro set" and "Micro sol" for your decals, and you wont have that problem (although this is relatively minor). Good work, cya around

Mathieu,
You've done a fine job on your first kit.
I hope you continue building, and posting photos of your work.

Mathieu,
Fantastic first model man. Keep building even if you hear that its child's play! Those ignorant people don't realize the creativity required to build a model - that is actually a work of art.
You learn books of information during each model you build. Heck, models that I thought were good 5 years ago are nothing compared to the models I build now. Look in my profile at the German StuG III compared to my WWI FT-17 model. That is a five year difference (the blue-ish FT-17 is the latter). It's not the end result, it's the journey getting there.
Good job getting a good airbrush right off the bat.

Very good work there. Nice clean up on the parts as well. One thing as far as photos go, your surfaces will show up better if you avoid direct light on them. What I do is use a piece of foam board and some clear white bulbs from any shop. The light "bounces" off the white foam board and keeps the glare away.....this allows you to avoid using flash photography as well.
Just keep it up. What you have been reading as been put to good use. But you will develop your own techniques as well,......which is the fun part for me.

Yeah, my first build came out that same way too.
