Hey guys, I've got pics of my two PTO shermans I'm working on. This is the first shermans I've built in almost thirty years so be gentle. No, on second thought, don't be. The 3rd Bat. job is almost done, but the 4th Bat. job needs sandbags and lots of little goodies yet.
Let me know wht you think.
And gobs of gratitude to Jay at TWS for such fast and terrific service, as well as, fantastic product.

Hi Ed,
Interesting looking Shermans. One question on the 4th battalion one is the top wading trunk on the correct way?
Keep up the good work, their looking good.

According to most of the photos in my book, Tank Warfare on Iwo Jima, they had the stacks facing either direction so I opted for the one that was different.

Ed, Nice work on your Shermans! (And the Flak 7/1!) Acouple of things though.....
It looks like you used the CMK M3 gun and shield for the M4A2 mid - its too large in scale and looks it. I would of stuck to the kits gun.
The sand shield mounting strips are too far forward.
Like Alan, I would think the wading stacks wouldn't be like that. All my refs show them off rather quickly.
The rear rack on the M4A2 was made from rebarb - how did you simulate it?
Not all the 4th and 5th Batt. tanks had the plank armor added. So you have even more options for your Iwo Tanks. Nice effort , keep upi the good work.

Thanks for the point outs Chris, the CMK actually measures out the exact same as the DML mantlet on the third Btn tank, I think it's just an optical illusion from the pic. I'm not a shermie guy by nature, I'm more of a panzer gray dude. But being former USMC, I've always wanted to do some PTO tanks. I know most of the tanks dropped their stacks fairly early, but I want to depict the two as if they just got on shore. I have a dio in mind for both with 2 or 3 figs on each. I bought the CMK as I was trying to use several different sherm kits I had in my stash. The 105mm hvss kit had the right turret but wrong gun. I tried to get a gun mantlet that matched the photos of the 4th Btn. tanks in my book and that one was the one that matched best. I didn't buy the PTO 2in1 kit till after I had my 4th btn conversion almost done. I only bought that kit since I could not find tracks with eec to replace the link to link that came with the DML kit. Those daggone things just wouldn't stay together for me. So I broke down and bought the 2in1 just for the tracks. Now I've got a pair of sherms and spare turrets that I'll probably watch collect dust on the shelf!
