Hi,
Can you help me in finding which countries' armed forces have received the Maz 537 tank transporter from Russia ?
I know those following users :
Russia ('course !) -intermediate and later type-
Ukraine -intermediate type sure, late ?-
Afghanistan - late type sure, intermediate ?-
Hungary -late sure, intermediate ?-
Vietnam -seems they received late type trucks-
Added countries (with your kind help) servicing the Maz :
Iran - almost sure they had (still have ?) intermediate type, what about late ?
Finland - intermediate type -
Mongolia
China
Serbia
Belarus
Cuba -intermediate type-
Bulgary
Former Yugoslavia - late type
Croatia
German Democratic Republic
Others ? Can you help ?
TIA,
Cheers,
Richard

Iran had some too. Not sure, but I would assume all Eastern European Soviet Client states too. Maybe Cuba? Angola? Syria?

Finland too, MAZ-537G, not sure of #'s. Tough to find any photos, there's a few in 'Finnish Armoured Vehicles 1918-1997'.

Hi,
Still about the Maz in Finnish service, the guys here : http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=16538&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=
are talking about it :
"MAZ has a tank V12 diesel engine, 2380 cu inch, 525 horsepower. Engine has 4 cams, and 48 valves. Truck is 359 inch long, tyres are 18.00-24. Finnish army did had 10 of them, they were year model 1971 and 1977 . "
Does anyone know if 1971 and 1977 year models of the 537 were "intermediate" or "late" as per Trumpeter model standards ??? I got the intermediate type in my stash, and some models that could fit on the trailor in finnish camo (BMP-1, MLRS,...). What about the camo of these finnish MAZ ? Olive drab overall or a nice green/black splinter ?
TIA
Regards,
Richard

Before 5 years I saw two early "Mazs" in Cuba (green overal) and last year I saw one late "Maz" out of Sofia city (Bulgarian capital) loaded by T-72. The Bulgarian was 2-color camo (like dark sand + russian green)

May be too obvious, but you can add Belarus sense this is where this truck is produced.

It's added already but I know from some discussions here in german forums: The NVA (Nationale Volksarmee, GDR) had some of them and there exist some rare pictures of them. But it is totally unsure how many and where exactely they had served. But they were kind of "unhandy", i.e. to big for the narrow streets in german cities and towns.
All of them went back to Russia in the 80ies when they built the big trans-sib oil-pipelines and used them for it (there exist some really good pictures, showing MAZs carrying those huge pipeline parts)
I was happy to see and take pics on one in original close to where I live. This guy just bought this one from Finland... circle closed "tada"

From the shape of the engine compartment vents you can say it is a late typ MAZ 537.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi,
These ones are from Serbia for sure. The pictures shows Serbian troops withdrawal from Kosovo after peace agreement in 1999.
Those picture from 'maketarstwo.net' posted by KeroJP8 could be Serbian or Croatian showing ad-hoc added camouflage during the war. Hard to say because both sides used similar paints but that patterns of small patches was more frequently seen on croatian vehicles. But I might be wrong since it is just my personal opinion based on browsing thousands of photos depicting Balkan conflicts. I am not an expert.
Cheers

Afghanistan.
I have a few pics and a video or 2 of the beast loading a T-something hull on it! Quite interesting. Most likely some left overs from the war with USSR. I'm actually thinking of modelling a similar one, I just need to find if it's an early or late type.
Cheers
