Hello,

as my first modern soviet model I want to build a T-72. My goal is it to build a "ColdWar warrior", if possible of a unit that was at East Germany. (I know only the German word for these units, Gssd, in english group of soviet forces in Germany?)

The T72 should be a B or a BM version. (I know Miniarm)

My biggest Problem is to find some references, like pictures, books etc. of T 72 B/BMs of these units.

Do you have an idea where I can find some pictures, journals etc.?

For your help I would be very grateful.

Best regards!

Hi Moritz,

I am pretty sure that Concord has made a book covering the T-72 - also, have you checked out prime portal for reference pics??

Best regards from Denmark

Hello,

thanks for your answer.

yea, I have watched on primeportal! There are very nice walkaround picture. But I do not know nothing about the t72 that were in East Germany during cold war. I don`t know if there were any fieldmodification , painting etc.

I have found the book about T72 of concord and the a book about the vehicles of the warsaw pact. Maybe there are interesting examples.

I think in this context I should describe more concretely for what I am looking for. I would say "action-pictures" of T 72 during manouvres how the drive through the countryside and so on:)

I know only picture of the Nato vehicles, how they looked on REFOGERs etc., maybe a counterpart of the soviets would be interessting, so that I have an nice example.

Furthermore, this imply the little advantage that I would not have any trouble with old or new road wheels etc.

In summery, my biggest problem is that I do not know how the soviets tanks looked during their time in East Germany.

I will try the Concord books, in the hope to see some interessting pics of T72s.

Best regards!

If you want a DDR tank, then the Tamiya kit is correct OOB. I would just add the eduard PE set and it would be a good build. Look through the threads for my longer explanation, but basically the Tamiya kit is a model of a rare East German tank of which there were only 20+ made, a polish built T-72M1 hull with a late T-72 turret.

Hello,

first thanks for your help.

Yea, it shall be a T72 of a Soviet unit that was stationed in the GDR. But the advice for the GDR T-72 is very usefull, too, because my project after the Soviet T-72. (But what`s wrong with the turret, not better to change against the turret from Blast models?)

In the last I only built cold war warriors of the Nato states. In context on the warsaw pacts states, especelly about Soviet units I do not know nothing. I do not know if there were generally soviet units equipped with T-72 etc.

To realize my goal I am looking especially for "action-pictures", in my eyes the easiest way to some information about the units and about the look of the tanks.

Best regards
