Quick question for you guys - besides Dragon's "AK-47/74 Family" boxes, are there any good 1:35 "Modern Russian Infantry Equipment" sets out there? I'm particularly looking for RPG's and general kit items such as helmets, caps, pouches, pistols, canteens, etc. I've seen the "Tank" resin models website, and while their stuff looks great it's very pricey, and I'd like to explore other options...
Any ideas?
Tommy.

None in plastic. If you want Russian/Soviet accessories, you have to spend the extra money on resin. A few plastic kits have some Russian accessories that are pretty good. Academy's M113A1 Vietnam kit has a good RPG7 and a couple AKs, so does Tamiya's M113 ACAV. Can't think of any others off hand though.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Ah. Well, that's a bugger - resin it is, I guess! Heh heh! Thanks for the reply Gino!
Still on this topic - I notice at the "Tank Resin Models" site there's a number of great little items I could use in future, but I'm yet to find an online supplier (or better yet, an Australian distributor) of their gear who actually carries a wide selection of the range beyond a small sample of figures. Would you guys have any recommendations?

http://www.modelpoint.us sells Tank company's products. And yes they are alive again.
If you want to get modern Soviet/Russian firearms in styrene you might want to check out Zvezda's Russian fire support team (badly sculptured and molded figures in this one) and Unit "V" sets. There are quite good AKs with new stocks and specialty weapons like VSS sniper rifles included. Some say Zvezda plans on doing Modern heavy machine gun team, 12.7mm NSVT most likely, and either Unit "A" or so-called Batman Squad in near future.

Ah - great! Thanks George! Although, if possible I'd be looking for a supplier that accepts PayPal as credit card companies here are truly vicious (with a capital "F")...

Tommy,
You could try AFV Modeller here in England. They stock most Tank items - the quality is great.

Yep - thanks Andrew! Their name popped-up in my searching & I went & checked them out (good site!). I'm currently awaiting a reply from their "Contact Us" service, as there's no readily visible information regarding payment methods. So, hopefully I'll be in luck!

Hi Tommy,
I should maybe have mentioned that they can take a while to respond to inquiries.
Not strictly eqpt. but in the modern Russian theme - have you seen the new figures from Masterclub, by the way? There are also these, of course:
http://www.restmodels.com/?p=model&id=18&s=&l=en and a "9th Company" Afghanistan set which could be reworked to bring them up to date. Not as sharp as Masterclub, but ok nonetheless. A couple of their WWII civilians could also be useful...

Firestorm carry Tank and if they don't have what you want then they can probably get it for you as part of their next order from Tank

Tom,
Whilst the quality of the figures is questionable, the range of equipment that comes with the zvezda figure sets (modern soviet and mujahadeen) is pretty good:
And there are quite a few "modern" soviet seta as part of the ICM figure range:
ICM 1/35 US Soldiers & Russian Soldiers, Balkans 1999-2001
ICM 1/35 Conflict in Chechnya 1999-2000 Set
ICM 1/35 Soviet Motorized Infantry 1979-1988 Soviet-Afghan War
pretty sure there is a soviet special forces set produced by one of these firms as well

Excellent replies fellas - thanks!
Unfortunately not - I could find tank tracks & such, but Google didn't seem to produce any links to figures...
Oh now THOSE are just damn cool! I'll be awaiting that set with interest! Listed as "Production Line" at present, so I guess I may have some time to kill!

Hi Tommy,
Try http://cgi.ebay.de/Rest-Models-3555-Soviet-Armee-in-Afghan-Krieg-1989_W0QQitemZ380063668754QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380063668754&_trkparms=72%3A823%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
I've ordered from them once before and have another order at present - service was good.
I got my Masterclub figures from Andrew at Historica Books - you're right, there's not much info out there.
