I am in Budapest right now, and on the 23rd I saw the celebration of the '56 revolution. On one of the bigger squares they set up a big exhibition of contemporary vehicles (mainly trucks and civilian cars), a T-55, a movie theater, some roadblocks and barricades, guns and everything that helps bring those times closer to the visitor. It was very moving to see old people walking around, obviously remembering the times when the black Volgas meant high-ranking Communist leaders, and the "ring-scare".
(My fater-in-law saw when people brought down the Stalin statue. He told me it was a very jubilant moment, people laughing and making jokes. There was a guy sitting on the chest of the statue, banging on his pocket, saying: "give my money back, you bastard". The shooting started later.)
Anyway, here's the link.
