My first completed model for some months following correction of a longstanding eyesight problems. Please tell me honestly what you think. I've used techniques that I've been familiar with for the last 40+ years as a modeller.

It looks pretty good. But it definitely could use some modern techniques, like pigments, washing, chipping, pinwashing etc,

It has been washed with raw umber oil paint over the base colour + mud, then drybrushed and a few 'pinwashes' - these are standard practice for me. Maybe a bit too subtle for the photos - It's a long time since I've posted anything here!

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply and offer help!

Emmm... It looks pretty damn good from where i'm sitting...

The only point i'd make it (and it's a minor one) is, and this is Italeri's fault, is the shape of the 37mm gun barrel (particularly the collar towards the mantlet) is WAY off. Unless you've really gone into it in detail, it's hardly noticable.

That said, it's good to see you back!

Nice one Dave

I don't know much about the subject, but are the joint and seam lines on the turret supposed to be there? (that's the seams under the hook jobbies near the front of the turret on both sides, and the line running from about halfway on the turret toward the back under what I guess might be the radio bay)

Nice work on the weathering.

TBH Rudi, I didn't really pay a lot of attention to those joint/seam lines, or research this at all. Normally I would do so, but in this case it was about "can I still do it, or do I pack modelling in for good"; so this was straight out of the box.

I promise that the next one I'll pay more attention to detail - either AFV Clubs M40 in Brit service or an M4 tractor and captured 88mm - depending on which one the postie deliveres first!

Thanks Rudi & Jim for the comments.

Hi Dave,

Nice work. On the weld lines they are fine:

Overall the kit looks excellent. On the wheels I think the mud needs a little more blend of colours or a little more of the tyre exposed to vary the effect, but that's just me. Some muddy dried lumps in appropraite places would also be a plus for such a muddy vehicle.

Good to see you back again and I hope you have may more years of pleasure ahead.

My kinda of vehicle, good and grubby.

Looks awesome on my 22" monitor! Don't think you even came close to losing it,Dave.
As posted above, the only thing I could possibly suggest is to give the tire mud more grit, grain, and substance. Looks good now if you are going for swamp slime!
Welcome back. Have one one me.

dave that's a beaut of staghound well done, just one question, is the barrel the one supplied in the kit coz i heard that there was some debate over the acuuracy of italeri's barrel. if it's an AM one who's it by and where can i get one coz i'm about 60% through building my staghound. cheers mate.

Hi Ant

It's the kit gun barrel. As I explained above I wasn't too concerned with accuracy on this build so I didn't replace it.

Thanks all for your comments.
