I built this about a year ago, but lost the mortar so I never bothered to finish it. I saw it sitting on the shelf a couple weeks ago, found a new mortar for it and finished the model.

There are some things that aren't filled or sanded, mainly due to the fact that when I built the model I never bothered with those kinds of things. Since the model was already built it made it tough trying to get to them, so I just let them go.

Have at it with the comments, as long as they are constructive I don't care how harsh you can be. Looking back a couple years ago at the models I used to build, I can see a huge improvement on what I build now. Largely because of this website.

The flat coat I used seemed to wrinkle a little bit too, I shook it for two minuets, I don't know what happened. Everything seemed to be more rounded after wards too, like rivets and corners.

Thanks for looking.

Jim,

Looks good.
The paint turned out just fine I think, the weathering looks good also.
The only thing that I'd change would be the .50 cal and the jerry cans on the front.
For some reason the Tamiya .50 cal's are different from kit to kit?
The .50 cal on the M8 Motor Gun Car. is a perfect example.
I never understood why that is????

Anyways, Good job and Happy New Year!!

Your model looks very good, only thing I would change is that horrible carpet(?) you are using as background. It really distracts viewers sight out of the model.

I like it. The blue background is a bit harsh on the eyes, but the model looks good. I'm not sure how they fired that .50 cal forward, the gunner would be hanging out that rear door!!
I like the small bits that add life to it, such as the Thompson on top of those maps and the MP 38 in the opposing corner.

Wow Jim that's quite an impressive finish you've achieved considering the age of the old Tamiya kit i myself have got all of the Tamiya US halftracks although so far only my M3A2 is near completion

I was wondering about the .50 cal also, if the gunner had to switch to fire over the sides, he wouldn't fit between the gun and the radio. Was a .30 cal supposed to be there instead?

Looking at these pictures I see I need to work more on my stowage.

The blue mat is the only blue backdrop I could find, time to get some poster board.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Nice looking half-track! Have the DML verison to tackle one of these days, hope it looks as good as yours does! Nice stowage and accessories, adds a good touch.

Thanks for sharing your work. Cheers -

You have done a great job on that old kit. I always like seeing the older stuff being built.

thanks for showing us your work.
