Hei guys!
My next project is the Revell (or Italieri) Sd.Kfz. 10/5 with the 38 Flak. It was very cheap on eBay an I wanted to build a Demag or Famo thing. As I saw on a other build log metioned, that the anti-skid plate is missing and other details, but whatever it's just a practising object.
What I realised later, that the Flak could be exchanged with a better one, but I don't know which is a good quality Flak 38, perhaps someone got a hint
The PE I'll add was thought just for the Flak 38 and some ammo boxes as following:
The Flak PE is for Tamiya, but would it be compatible?!
I'm planning to do this scheme here:
I'll try the winter camo with the hairspray method.
So, let's go!

The build is very straight forward. The Revell plastic adheres very good with my plastic glue. But I don't like the color of the plastic
I did a preshading with nato black and then mixed the color from buff and deck tan. Now I have to pick ou the deatils.

Both Dragon and Tristar have good quality 2cm flak. I I have the earlier Tristar kit #35010 with an Eduard detail set and a Lion Roar Flak Barrel, which I'm putting into a Verlinden Atlantic Flak Bunker. I'm yet to start building, but quality looks good. Lion Roar make a good update for the Dragon 2cm Flak.

Hei Tim, I like to share my work. It's more interesting, than building in your own bunker and hide the results
Thanks for the tip Andrew. I think it's going to be a Dragon or Tamiya Flak.
A little progress on the driving cabin. I'm not so happy with the scratches. Wrong placing. But I had to try to first apply a light color, then fill it with a darker chip color. Perhaps it's getting better with an oil wash...

Hi
Both the Tristar and Dragon kits are very detailed and hands down better than the Italeri or Tamiya kit.
If you want to know more about these kits and how they compare check out PMMS reviews on the versions from Dragon and Tristar, the comparison review on all the available kits but also the on the available barrels. For my replacement of the Italeri gun I've chosen the Tristar model. Hav'n't got round to getting a replacement barrel yet.

This is the model I decided upon as my replacement gun.

but will probably get a PE set to replace the shields

@ Wayne: I hope my pictures are of use. Have you got a build log too?
@ Alan: Thank you very much for the links! Very informative. I think it'll be the Dragon Flak. But without a erplacement barrel.
Here an update from this morning:
Finished the gun plattform. Next is the painting stage, which I like very much...

The 10/5 is a really nice kit - I've built one myself a few weeks ago. However, yours looks already much better now!
Here's my version of the old bugger. I'll probably add more stowage, mud and some figures.

Hi A.W.
Your making good progress on that kit, it's looking really good so far. I almost ordered that kit this week,as a future DAK wreck. I'll wait to see how your build comes along first. How was the kit to build as far as parts fit goes?
Rob

@ Philipp: Great to see some other 10/5 models! Thank you for sharing. It's a great and clean build I hope mine gets as good as yours! IMHO I would weather it more, like you said and add stowage. But I don't like any figures... I'll never do any, don't know why
@ Tim: Thanks for the motivation! It's always nice to read some nice words
@ Rob: That would be very nice to see my model in a wrecked and better looking situation (If you build it) I think fit is very well, but parts are a little bit thick and there are many marks you have to sand or fill (What I haven't ). You can feel that it isn't a Dragon model The plattform hasn't got much details and if you want to buy a historical correct one you should add some armor plates in front of the grill if I'm not wrong. And I don't like the color of the plastic. Just ask if you want to know more.
Here the progress:
After watching the Adam Wilder DVD several times, I begann the color stage
I primed the whole thing with Tamiya white primer. And the pre-shaded it with a gloss black.
After drying I mixed a very dark brown with Tamiya Dark Yellow and Red Brown and added Clear as you can see. This was then painted over the whole model.
Next step will be a lighter Dark yellow to paint the highlights.
What color has the gun platform??? Dark Yellow

Hi Aenea
Thanks for the info, I would most likely replace a lot of the parts if I were to build one as a wreck.
The painting is looking good so far,are you doing the 3 tone camo on this model? Have you started the 2cm Flak gun yet?
I'm assuming the platform was the same color as the rest of the vehicle, but I could be wrong.

Hei Rob, thanks for popping in. Yes indeed, you would have to replace many parts. But you as scratchbuild-pro surely would do a great thing of this Demag!
I won't do the three tone, because of the winter white camo. It's going to be my first try. So I don't want to spend a lot of time
I'll replace the Flak with the one from DML but I haven't oredered one yet.
I tried to give some highlights and to build up a gradient. It looks more like a dusting. But I'm very unhappy with the Dark yellow I used from Mr. Hobbycolor.
Next step will be the hairspray and the white camo, so I don't mind too much, how it looks now. But comments good and bad, like always welcome.

Looking good Aenea. I agree that the whitewash will definitely cover the yellow base color.
Looking foward to more painting pics, keep up the good work

Ok, now I wanted to apply the hairspray technique:
After applying a coat of tamiya clear I applied some coats of hairspray. After drying I made my first mistake... I have one bottle of valejio air white, took it to make the white winter camo instead of taking a very light grey... The white is just too stark.
Then I began rubbing of the white with warm water, but at some places the valejo white peeled of like a skin (what would have been great to represent some paint damage on rusted vehicles) and at other places it didn't came off at all. So I painted some white chips. But the pics are the actual stand.
Next step will be some filters and a white wash.
Learned a lot for my next winter camo
