Another one of my ongoing projects, this one is the old Tamiya kit. I am building out of the box, and I regret that a little. Anyways, here's where I'm at so far:

nice work so far... i too am building tamiya's old kit, i've added a few additions to mine in the form of spares from the numerous dragon kits based on the panzer IV plus tamiya's on vehicle equipent set... haven't primed mine yet though... don't think i'm criticising here but shouldn't the brummbar have zimmerit? wheather it does or doesn't it still looks good, are you also using the kit vinyl tracks or AM, if so i'd suggest using the Academy indy links as they fit the tamiya wheels with no problems. cheers Ant.

That brummbaer looks very good Philip, hard to believe it's the ooold Tamiya kit. I like the weathering so far. I do have see a couple of things that do bother me though. I think the crosses stand out too much, they look like they just applied to the vehicle. The other thing would be the rust streaks, they look a little pinkish in the pics. It;s nothing major and it could be due to lighting. Just my two cents. I do like what you've done with an old kit like that and i'm looking foward to seeing more.

Great looking Brummbar so far, for an old kit sure looks good. Nice job with the weathering, add a little to the cross and it'll blend in just fine.
Keep at it! Cheers -

Hei Philip
I like your tank very much. It's a nice yellow and the chipping is done very good.
Looking forward to see the pics of the finished model!

Thanks for the comments. I have not weathered over the crosses yet. I'll be getting to that soon. Meanwhile, the weathering is done with oil paints and Mig pigments, and the base color is Tamiya's dark yellow spray can. I don't have an airbrush here, or else I'd put camouflage on this.
Here's a mini update: I put one set of spare tracks on. They are painted Tamiya flat black, then dry brushed with metallic gray and treated with Mig Pigments. I'm probably going to put another set underneath the gun. The sword is from a Tamiya Japanese infantry set that I'm also working on.
The next steps will be installing the wheels and tracks, then the accessories, and finally finishing the tank crew, which are the original Tamiya ones that came with the kit. I'll keep posting photos as I work on this.

It looks very nice! Maybe you could make your rustmarks a bit smaller at the end next time.

Thanks. I've been a bit curious what tool people use to make streaks. Right now, I use one of those micro brushes, but they are still a little big, and I need to use the edge of the tip. I also tried a toothpick and the sword, but I can't get enough transfer of pigment to the model.

They are nice and better hen my last ones. Don't try to make them smaller. What I met was, they are getting wider at the bottom. Try to reverse that effect.

Had some time to work on this again:
Next are the tracks, and accessories. I'm not mounting side skirts on this one. Afterwards, I'll do the 2 tank crew figures that came with the kit.

The weathering is great. What is so bad about the kit? Esp if you can make it look like you have.
The bolts on the rear mudguard are how I wish my pinwashes would work.

Thanks. This kit has a few fit problems, as well as poor detail in a few areas in my opinion. When I become more skilled, I'll begin working with photo etch and other expensive detail sets. I did the washes with Mig oils.
By the way, does anyone have any suggestions on how I should weather the tracks? I drybrushed parts of them silver to simulate heavy wear like on rail road tracks, but since this was an urban warfare vehicle, I'm a little hesitant to put dirt and stuff on the tracks. Also, what parts would most likely rust on them?

Did some final weathering, just a little more and then install the other hatch. Maybe also tone down the silver on the tracks with Mig Pigments.
I definitely need more experience painting figures; he looks like a zombie with blood coming out of his mouth LOL

And done:
This was built out of the box, except for the chain on the back. If I can find the racks for the spare wheels on the back, I'll put them on.
My next project will be the 7/2 halftrack, which I will mount that AA gun I put up here a while ago onto.
