Luke if you soak the rop in future,or thinners it will smooth out the fine fibres and still be able to paint it. Glad you've gone with Russia it will do the model justice. Its nice to have a little historical correctness. Lookind forward to the diorama, hopefully lots of your great looking mud!

you might want to do something about the gap between the upper and lower hull though.
They are quite noticable.

yeah i know, it's another flaw in the kit. i've been putting it off for a while, but i really should do something about it. You can see from this website on pg vii the reference pics fo my snow setting, although i plan to make mine a bit more mushy.

lol i just noticed something. you know how you spend ages carefully painting the rubber rims on road wheels so it doesn't go over the line? it appears it was all in vain;

no more pics (sry), but i've made a telegraph pole, some fence posts and some barbed wire for the fence. i'm thinking of further delaying the diorama until i can get some celluclay. all my previous ones have been made on pollyfilla (or concrete for the first one. don't even ask).

i had a bit of a problem today making the insulators for the telephone/ power lines. eventually i found that two beads threaded onto a pin with the pointy end cut off looks fairly convincing when painted.

Luke,

Your 251 is looking great, I love the mud weathering treatment! Very nice work to an old kit.

sorry i haven't been able to do an update recently. the main reason is that we have had quite heavy snow here in england, which is really rare. i has meant that i haven't done any more to the model, but i have been able to take some good reference photos.

Hi Luke with regards to the gap between the upper and lower hull you could try squadron green putty , fill the gap with the putty then sand it smooth using a file and with luck it should do the trick

Luke,

You know at this stage in the build going back to fill and file might be too late, but, a little strategically placed mud (Oh I know, the purists will hate me) will cover the gap and blend into the current progress. The key is to make it appear like more splatter and not a fill job. Good luck.
