As I'm off on another snow day, I've decided to build a "paper project that's also my first scratchbuild. I've got plenty of cardboard and plastic. It's going to be a large flak turret on top of a modified Karl chassis (leftover from my current Karl build log). I've got everything but the turret built but I don't know what it (the turret) will look like. Any ideas for something simple I could make?

Anyway, here it is without a turret:

The glue is wet, but it's going to look like non-slip coating
I'm not going to be fancy with this one. Just something quick to learn some construction things on.
I know I should be working on the figures, but I like working on vehicles better...

I've made the turret and some other additions. It's armed with 2 fictional 210mm AA guns, one being in recoil. I've made a couple hatches in which I tried making some handles. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

Padawan- I'd suggest it. It's kinda cool doing this, especially because I can pretty much do anything because it's 1) what if and 2) It's a learning process so I'm trying a bunch of different things.

Eaglewatch- My pics are right below

tjkelly- thanks for the comments

I'm glad everyone is taking a peek. I wasn't sure if anyone'd be inteested.

Anyway, here are the pics. The left gun is the one in recoil, I'm actually going to create a smoke effect out of the barrel. It's a really large turret for some really large guns.

I've learned how to make handles. Its something different but will probably help me a lot in the future.

Thanks for watching and fire away with critiques
Richard

Sorry for the bad pics, I took them in a hurry.

Hey Richard! I had a similar idea in mind. I too have the trumpeter karl mortar and I was thinking of using the leftover chassis for the base! Don't worry, I won't copy your exact what if. Anyway, it totally kicks butt!

P.S. how are you going to make the smoke effect? I know a really good technique. Ask me and maybe I can help you out with it!

M4A2 Sherman- You could probably so something that looks even better. My turret reminds me of a KV-2. Big, chunky, but gets the job done.

The smoke effect is going to be loosely based of this:

Although I would like to here your way. Knowing how to do something two ways is better than one.

Here it is painted. I'm going to attach a radar set of some sort to find those pesky aircraft. Any ideas of something simple or anything? I'm not sure whether I should paint a camo or just keep it the German Yellow. To be quite honest, I'm just kinda making this by popular desicion. Anyway, here it is with the track loosely attached. I'm not going to whether it much, just a little scrapage from the track hiting pavement moving around a city.

Here are my first attempts at weld seams. They are overexcessive, but I learned how to make which was my focus.

Here's how my cast effect turned out using white glue:

I'm not sure if I'm going to add markings...

If anyone has antything they think should be on the Flakturm, let me know!

Thanks for the comments. Now the thing is, I have no idea what to do next in terms of camo. It just looks a little too dull. I'm open to any and I do mean any camo ideas.

Hey Richard,

The way i thought of making smoke was pretty much that feature. The thing is for smoke it will be hard to use a metal wire as it is gray and metallic. You should paint the wire white or gray.
