My Girlfriend is out of town so I spent a few hours this weekend throwing together this old jem, fun build. I replaced a few parts but tried to keep it within reason as the goal was to have fun and not get bogged down in correcting details. Texturing is Mr surfacer 500, lots of tamiya and academy stowage from random kits, simple base is in the works as well.
I'm off for a climb now, but should throw some paint on it this evening. Fire away!
Oh and sorry for the strange backdrop but my usual white background was washing the model out due to the light colour of the mr surfacer.

As supplied by Italeri, the kit's shell ejection port ("pistol port" in the parlance of the time) is too flush with the turret side. The fix is to mount the insert slightly proud of the surface and fair it in with putty. If you haven't cemented it in too solidly, you could still reposition it.

Thanks guys, I've managed a base coat of tamiya OD lightened with about 30% dark yellow to see how the texturing would look, as I suspected it needs a bit more light sanding to bring it down a bit.
The running gear was roughly blocked out with OD and an overspray of khaki drab to set tones.
Brian, I'm sure like most shermaholics I have enough spares to build several tanks with, seems the older DML kits just piled in the extra sprues. Lyndon, thanks Im looking foreward to wraping this up very quiclky.
Gerald thanks for pointing that out, it looked a bit funny, but as I was trying to do this using the majority of kit parts I just thought it was a poorly depicted mount, I'm sure I can jimmy it out and get it a bit proud
Thanks all! more pics tonight of a green sherman!

Holy cow Eric! Few hours or so to get that done, fantastic! Always amazed at how fast some folks put together their kits, as they come out great! Takes me a few hours at times just to clean up parts and glue together one or two steps! Must be a slow builder.
Nicely done, lookong forward to seeing it with some color. Cheers -

Thanks Tim, the funny thing is after so many shermans they just fall together it seems. unfortunatly my camera is out of it at the moment and I'm headed out on trip this afternoon. I'll be back sunday and thanks to a slow economy I should have some time after that to finish this off and post some pics along the way.
Cheers.
