Is there a way of making this beast via a conversion etc.
Seen a scratch build but I don't have the skill nor patience for that.

Any news

Nothing is available. Panzershop have one up for future production, but it will be a full resin kit and likely cost $350-$450 if made.

ICM promised one in plastic years ago...who knows?

I also think so, that we will perhaps never see the ICM kit. The boxart was very surprising to me, when I read that announcement several years ago.
Panzershop´s kit won´t have a "good" price... comparing it with the 2S7 Pion and others... which are in the 330 USD-range.

Forget about ICM kit it's canned for sure (but oh how I want to be wrong about it). Panzershop people will surely make a great kit with equally great price tag. Your only viable option is to scratch build turret and feed mechanism and mate them with Miniarm T-72 glacis and modified T-80 hull.
I recently found good set of drawings here:
