Thanks guys,

The colors are all Tamiya....75% OD with 25% Yellow Green...the pre-shade is Flat Brown.

If I did it over I would use 50/50 Flat Brown and Black as the pre-shade.....oh and NO primer.

I sprayed at about 20 Psi and used a 50/50 mix paint to thinner mix. the finish is sealed with our friend Futue.

Great work Ryan, definitely a new technique to try. I think your pre-shading came out well, especially with the decals applied. Keep at it, looking forward to seeing some additional pics.

Cheers!

**Update**

Turret has been washed and flat coated. I'm still struggling with my wash techniques...they could be a little darker. I lost some of the darker streaking from the Tamiya Smoke...the reason being the Smoke is gloss giving the impression the coat is darker than it really is, when the unit is given the flat coat it washes out the glossy smoke thus muting the effect.

and a couple of close ups....

I'll probably finish the Turret up then tackle the Hull... more soon.

Wow Ryan. That pre-shading still came through pretty well. The Sherman is looking excellent! I want to do my own Sherman soon, just a break from German armor and I'll use this technique for sure, good job!

Thanks Greg...but I only shhot it when it's clean. Believe me I can mess it up quick.

I built my model shop last year...here are some pics, it has AC/Heat, and a underground air supply for the spray booth...and of course cable for the tube.

That is one sweet set up Ryan.

Nice digs to build in play music get toasted and then no worry or Nagging from the wife when you spill paint on the rug.

Don't worry Honey the OD green will come out when the Rug cleaners come.

Thanks Lee,

I have a Kodak 740, I went into the custom settings/ white balance tools on the camera to tweek it. I appreaciate the compliment, but I have a ways to go on the pic taking. The biggest problem is getting enough light to bath the subject in, since ther is no light box around the in-prgress shots.

Here is a shot of the light setup...I think I need to get some hotter bulbs to improve.

Ryan

(BTW...see, it does get messy, and excuse the airplane project:))

Airplane? whats an airplane? i dont know of anything known as an "airplane."

You think your messy? my workbench usually only has 2 square inches of space left! My dad calls me the "nutty professor."

So whats the skinny on that sherman?

Some progress today, lower hull has been washed and flat coated...ready for detail painting.

The pre-shade does show through better in person.

Thanks for looking.

**Update**

I painted the tools and road wheels today...well barely, I mixed a custom Vallejo dark grey and almost ran out! The wood portions are Vallejo Olive Green...looks Ok, but I should have darkened them a little.

To the pics....

And the unforgiving close up...

Finally, I wanted to introduce my poor KV test tank, right now experimenting with pigments that will end up on the Sherman.

Now that must be the ultimate "cave", if you can still call it that... I suppose it was a 1/2 scale Miniart kit?

Great weathering (on the Shermie)! Might have to try that myself!

Cheers

**Opinions Please**

I started adding fine scratches and other blemishes to the lower hull, I also experimented with some pencil lead on the lift rings and around the fuel pots.

The scratches are made with Testors Rubber in the square bottle.

Thanks
Ryan
